    Welcome!
Good luck with the project. As Car Craft said "Dare to be Different."

I'm actually not in Cleveland, I live in Niles :) I only get the car out a couple of times a year too.

There are a few pics of my 69 car here.

I just removed the NOS last month and put in a fresh rebuilt 455 that I purchased from Greatscat. Put in a new Hughes 3k Converter, the TCI was tired, and a Performer Intake. I've only had it out twice since the install but it sure seems to pull real nice.

Here are a few pics after the install.

    Buick/chevy story

    Welcome to v8 Buick.
Here is a story that happened back in the early 70s.
I had a friend that stuttered. he had a nice little 64 el camino with a small block in it. The eng went bad. I happend to have a 401 buick and turbo400 trans sitting in the floor of my shop.
I told him that we should just put the engine and trans in the el.
    We did.
After we got it together we took it out to the street and was driving around to check the thing out. Finally I said,'Are you ever going to get on it?' He did. [now all he had ever built was small block chevys and all I ever built was big block Buicks.]
The Nail head let out a throaty roar, the 12'' Indy tires he had in back went up in smoke, the truck went side ways, he corrected and the truck went side ways the other way and by this time we were right at 80 mph.
He shut it down and pulled over and stopped. I said ''Whats wrong?'' He looked at me and said ''You warpin my s s s s s skinny block m m m m m m mind.''

    The Riv...

For those of you who have asked....
I still have the Riv the engine and trans came out of. The car was out of Virginia so the frame is pretty solid. I wouldl like to part it out or sell the whole car. Everything is there except the engine, trans, and drive shaft. The only other thing I would like to keep are the finned drums. Need parts (or better yet a whole '63 Riv!) let me know!

    A little update...
I've ordered some Sanderson block hugger headers for my 401. Hopefully they will be here in the next day or two so I can get back to work! Anyone have any good or bad experiences to report about on these headers? I'm sure I will have to "modify" (read- beat them in with a hammer at points) but it beats building a set.
Over and out in limbo land...

    Exhaust clearance solution

I used a 1957 left side exhauxt manifold from a single exhaust Buick Special and it curved up over the stering box in a 1953 Mercury. Might be a solution on the old GMC. Check with Buick Club of America and nailhead sites. The 401fit like a glove in the Merc. Good luck. Gary B.

Hi Megan. Its me from the HAMB. Welcome, I've had really good luck with this sight! Hope you have the same experiance. If those headers don't work maybe a set of weiand marine exhaust manifolds would work better? Jerry
