I said earlier that I would report back on the quality and fit of the new parchment white interior (seats, door panels, rear side panels) that I bought for my 1970 Skylark Custom.

I had an upholstery shop do the work - I figured they're the experts and it would take me 10 times as long plus much cursing and punctured fingers to get it right! Total cost of their labor was $440.00, including painting the armrests and pads, kick panels and A-pillar mouldings, plus supplying and installing the new foam padding. The interior cost as I recall was about $1000. (Plus the outrageous customs, duty and handling costs plus taxes between the Government of Canada and UPS).

The result, I am happy to say, is excellent! The upholstery guy said the driver's seat cover was a bit tight and he couldn't put in as much padding as he would have liked. But I am finding it totally acceptable, and the seat covers themselves are gorgeous!

The biggest problem I had was that the upholstery guy used the wrong color of paint for the armrests etc, and they came out waaaaay too white. I later told him to try SEM Super White (thanks George N.) and it was a PERFECT match to the parchemnt material used by Legendary (at least to my untrained eye).

I'll post a few pics to demonstrate. I think most of these were taken before I repainted the armrests with the Super White, so if they look too white, that's why.

All in all, I'd do it again, and I'd totally trust and recommend Legendary's product quality. Be careful if you're ordering long arm rest bases from them, though. The gal on the phone was certain they had the 16" ones, but I received the 11" ones. Sent them back for full credit plus a refund of my shipping cost. That's what I call GOOD customer service, even though the phone person really should have known better.

How does it look with the brown dash? I have a saddle interior and I am thinking of changing to parchment but planned on changing the dash etc to black. Mabye just the seats and door panels would work, yours looks great!!!!!!!!! :TU:

    Changing

Hi Chris, actually the dash and carpet are being changed out this fall - to black! The car used to be dark brown with the saddle interior, so I put in a new brown carpet at the start of the renovation. But now that I've got the parchment interior, I think the black dash and black carpet would look much better. AND THEN, if anyone ever decides to repro the floormats, that would look even better! :TU:
