Ok I'm new, but no kid. Yes, the number in my user name is the year I was born. Just joined list this afternoon and WOW, already have an answer to a problem. I bought my white '64 Riviera a year ago last June. My one and only classic. I am not a mechanic, but have always been mechanical. Not afraid to jump into almost anything. We all know the saying, "knows just enough to be dangerous". That's me. But I am looking forward to learning by doing. My car is a solid #3+. I have replaced the Sony radio with an original, repaired the infamous Buick clock, repaired heater valve, replaced belts, replaced ignition switch, and tuned her up. What a sense of accomplishment. Next on the list will be new carpet, oil pan gasket, AC repair, and eventually a rebuild on the engine (425 Nailhead). There aren't many classic Riv's in my area, so she really turns heads when I am driving down the street. I have a desk job, so this is the way I spend my spare time. I was tipped off about this list by a fellow ROA member. What a great site. I am looking forward to learning alot, and hopefully can give back, now and then.:TU:

    Hi Steve!

Welcome aboard....Where is Normal, IL? Anywhere close to St. Louis?

There are more Buick owners with Riv's around here than you might think at first:Brow: They come out of the woodwork when you join the Buick club(s)

I see more Riv's around here than Centurions:gt: :beer

Guess that makes ONE Normal person around here:laugh: Welcome aboard Steve always good to have another Nailheader around. Those early Riv's will turn some heads especially with some throaty exhaust for the Nail to breath through.
    They keep us young!:bglasses: Doug

Adam, Normal is 45 miles southeast of Peoria. Half way between St. Louis and Chicago. My wife is from St. Louis, so we have spent our share of time there. Seems I remember a really nice annual car show in a park, down there.

Doug, OK one more "Normal" joke. I know they're irresistable. After living here for 51 years, I have heard them all, believe me. I belong to the largest local car club, and attend most local shows. Still don't see many Rivs. There is a popular boat tail flamethrower that shows up often, and one other white 64 that is owned by a local Buick dealer. That's about it, other than a few newer ones.

Although Normal is fairly abscure to most, it is in a metropolitan area of 110,000, joined with Bloomington. Not exactly the sticks.

It IS invigorating to get the high sign from the younger folks when you drive down the street. It's one of the best buys I have ever made.:TU:
