Thanks Guys. I had a shop that I know well do the covering of the seats and rear arm rests. I installed plastic components , hung the door panels, etc.. Worked out well and I learned a few things doing it. I ended up having them install new seat springs and new padding so the seats are super comfy and sit pretty high. I have the correct white rear door trim moulding to install at some point, but the black looks ok for now. Actual more durable in terms of scuffs if and when people climb into the back seat ( never has happened, but could). Thanks for the comments. Steve
You did a great job building those door panels and the whole job looks spectacular. White is nice!
Steve - your Buick's interior looks awesome! I'm getting in a set of bucket seats very soon and will be recovering them along with new foam to put in my car (along with an automatic floor console and shifter). What company did you get the white plastic bucket seat parts from (and what color did they call it)? The color on the white plastic matches very nicely and I would like to get the same for my '72s white interior.
More thanks to all. Chris, the seat backs and side panels are actually from The Parts Place and are PUI pieces. I ordered them from Legendary and they had a delay in the side panels, so I ordered those from TPP ( actually online via ebay). The Legendary seat backs that I recieved were stark white while these from PUI were much closer to the 72 off white vinyl. To be honest, the supplier to Legendary makes a thicker , more durable product ( compared to the PUI pieces), but the color match made it worth the trade off ( there was no need to dye the panels). The photos really make the color look very white, but it is really off white and a very nice color combo with the gold. Need less to say, I'm now paranoid about dirt and grease ( compared to the black that was fit to the car during an earlier resto). Worth it to have it returned to the correct color. One question for the masses, would a white interior car have a black short console? My car was not equipped with the short console when new, but I like the look and utility of it. Seems to go well with the white seats/black carpet. Thoughts on that? Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, Thanks for the info. I've seen white interiors with the black carpet/console - looks good. My Skylark will have the white buckets/black carpet and black automatic floor console when it is done.
That black console is correct for white interior. I thought I would add my Legendary interior pics too
More thanks to all. John, your interior looks awesome. As for the headrests, I actually found those on ebay last fall and intended to dye them , thinking the 72 white was brighter than it turned to out to be. They must have been from a 72 because they are a perfect match and in pretty nice shape. Lucked out. Plus scored them for only $20 bucks! Later, Steve
