Welcome Al, There are quite a few Buick guys out this way. Hopefully you'll be able to find many of us at the track in the coming year. There are a couple of BOP events; 1 at Pacific Raceways and 1 at Bremerton. There is also a big Buick show towards the end of the summer. Let's see some pictures of those cars.
hey there I am here in Portland oregon so if you have any questions I can answer feel free to let them fly.
Al, Welcome aboard! Where are you located in WA? I am in Renton. Nice to have someone else on here from WA with a 69, most of these guys have 70 -72's!
cjp69 Hello all and thanks for the welcome.I live in Port Orchard about 7 miles from Bremerton raceway where I hear they have a couple of buick events ill be looking for in the future Al
I graduated from Bremerton High School and Olympic College so I know the place well! Matter of fact, just drove by there today on my way to Silverdale to license my car, and will be going back on Friday for Thanksgiving with my folks!
CK High grad here with OC 2-year under my belt. I've come across a nailheader or two in the Port Orchard area in the area as well as a few other 455 hounds in the Bremerton as well. Living in Oregon now. My first Buick was a 69 plain jane Skylark with a transplanted 350-4 after the original grenaded after one too many neutral "power brakes".....aaah - to be 17 again..... Picked up from the "electric used car shop" near 11th and Olympic??? many moons ago.....
Sk grad here born and raised in ole P.O. honk as you go by the mullenix exit I hope to meet up with you guys someday thanks Al
Steve, not sure I can tell you, given what you do for a living! j/k, emissions yes, but now also all of the taxes they add in Seattle. RTA, Monorail, etc. I register all my cars with my parents Bremerton address. I used to just register them in Renton with the Bremerton address, but with all the news lately about people registering there cars with addresses outside of Seattle just to avoid taxes (shame on those people!), I figured I would play it safe and drive over there and register at the "home office". Plus, I was registering a car I bought with a "DOL Fair value" of $18,900 for a purchase price of $7,200, so I figured I wanted to try and fly under the radar as much as possible. Saved me quite a bit in taxes at about 8.5% though. Well worth the hour or so drive each way.
I know what you mean. When I bought the $300 Buick, I had to convince them that it wasn't worth a couple thousand dollars. I brought pictures of where the trans would be, the hole in the oil pan, the missing nose pieces, and the messed up/siliconed rear window. She ended up going with the amount on the bill of sale and considered it a hulk/parts car. Of course Rick and I could see it's potential... and now it runs/drives.
Welcome to the board Al! I too graduated from Bremerton High and Olympic College and now live in Port Orchard. I live just off of Salmonberry and Jackson Ave. So drop by sometime and maybe we could do some horse trading :Brow: :Brow: Cheers!
