what are some of the main componets that should be changed when rebuilt?
Is it necessary to replace everything or are some of the componets able to be tested/cleaned/and reused?
Is there a major price difference if I had it rebuilt without having it bored out as opposed to keeping it stock? What are some of the advantages of having the engine bored??

A lot of questions....I know. I just want to get the most bang for my buck and don't want to buy anything unecessary.

What you need to do is first find a machine shop that you can trust, then take them the engine and have them tear it down for inspection. Have them keep detailed notes on each aspect as they go and then discuss with you the condition of everything and what machining needs to be done. If you can get away with a simple honing of the cylinder bores vs boring them out then all the better! Only measuring of the bores will tell you how much if any overbore is needed. A engine bored 30 thou over will run hotter than a stock bore engine although not by too much in most cases.

After the machine shop has decided what needs to be machined you can order a basic rebuild kit from Northern Auto but you need to know what size bearings you need ect first. If you overbore then you will need new pistons.
