    Hi Everyone,

just came to my attention today that Fel Pro has a Hi-Perf gasket for the 455, part # 1016. Sell for about $40.00 ea. Is this a new gasket? Anyone tried them? How about T/A's new Cometic gasket. Pricey, I know, but anyone using them?

I use cometic head gaskets on all my engines i think they are the best out there yes they are pricey but i have taken 2 busch engines a part that saw over 300 deg water and oil temp and the head gaskets showed no signs of letting go that convinced me.

TA's Orange Crush Head Gasket is the most popular performance, composite, head gasket covering combo's up to 13:1 CR. $89/pair

TA also stocks the Cometic gaskets, which are suited for combinations that will see cylinder pressures greater that what is found on 13:1 CR such as with Nitrous, Turbos or Superchargers. Also this gasket is available in several thickness' starting at .027". Pricing starts at $155/pair.

Both have provisions for the 4 extra head bolts if using them with TA Aluminum heads.

    orange crush head gasket

    Well,

I'm sure the cometic head gaskets are great, and prolly worth the money. However, if I'm not mistaken, the Orange Crush is made by Detroit Gasket.

In over 30 years of using gaskets, I have found that, in general, DG is certainly not up to the quality of Fel Pro, Victor, and others. Perhaps the Orange Crush were made to tighter specs. Still, weren't there some issues about "baby sitting" these gaskets, having to check to see that the fire rings don't intrude into the cylinders, and thus having to file the dowel pin holes in the gaskets?
