As posted on another site: Tony Depillo, President and Race Director of the National Street Car Association (NSCA) and I, Jack Irons, would like to announce a new Stock Appearing (SA) racing venue. This venue has new and exciting prospects and a class for all factory muscle cars. This venue will be contested by the NSCA. This is a first-class operation and will do a great job. So in the very near future look for this to be officially announced on the NSCAs website at http://www.nsca-racing.com/ We hope everyone will be able to come out and take part or spectate at these events. Check the link for details on the rules. http://nsca-racing.com/index.php?page=factory_appearing
Looks pretty good What's the race format? All cars on a ladder? Or quic 8, or 16, and rest 2/3? All best 2/3? Is it going to be at all 8 of the NSCA races? I guess I'll be the first to say it; I'm assuming that stock appearing aluminum heads painted engine color are allowed? :Brow:  :beer Wayne
The races will be the last 5 of the NSCA season starting in Milan, MI. This is going to be a lot of fun and as a tech inspector for the class I am looking forward to seeing every car entered have the chance to participate!!!! We hope that people will try the class and see what fun it is racing on little tires with big power and want to come back. Depending on how many cars show up it will be like a quick 16 type format. If there are a lot of "illegal" cars we will split it so that all the "legal" cars have a chance to get past the first round. For example, the "illegal" cars will run each other and possibly a top eliminator type showdown at the end, we are still looking for feedback on the format and have time to adjust before race day.
stock oem 4 speeds? in my opinion you are shooting yourselves in the foot requiring oem 4 speeds. as the guys in fast have proven, 10s are reachable on bias tires-but every top loader ford and hemi 4 sped chrysler is gonna cream all the broken gear muncies in the gm cars. no real incentive here to build a stick shift gm lightweight (baldwin-nickey-motion clone for example) as the trans wont last a race weekend if there is any traction at all.
I think the important thing is that it is from that manufactuer, not necessarily the correct year or model (correct in "vintage"). Some of the guys out there use newer aluminum oem cases and such.
Hmmmm. Reading through it quick I notice several things. Correct appearing bumpers? If I built a Rallye 350 they could be fiberglass since those were coated and not chromed??? Correct appearing cylinder heads? Painted Edelbrocks legal? Can I run Olds C heads instead of pricey F heads on a 70 W30? Rear has to be same size ring gear or smaller? Can't put a 12 bolt in place of my weaker Olds O type? Carbs must appear correct? So I can run an 800CFM Q Jet? Upper and lower control arms must appear stock? I can't box my uppers? Sounds interesting, especially since I am already building a FAST legal car but these rules seem to have a few more holes in them. If you are building something with a lot of factory(think aluminum heads on Chebbies and others)/aftermarket support/parts you have all the cards. An Olds ain't gonna compete in the A class, that's for sure. And the B class will be a breakout class.
Lots of room for interpretation there. Do painted Edelbrock aluminum heads appear correct enough on an Olds? Probably not, but painted ZL1 heads would look perfectly normal on an LS6 Chevelle. Hard to spend money on parts when they MIGHT be legal.
Sounds interesting Rules look to be pretty well thought out. This could be HUGE to this type of racing, especially with the NSCA holding event's nationwide, as this will draw people from all over the U.S.A. to possibly build new car's for this type of racing, many of which will finally travel and add to the car count at existing events :TU: Yes, this will be really interesting to see what unfold's :3gears: One thing I would suggest to the rule maker's for consideration is to adopt the rules from Dan Jensen and Bob Boden's Pure Stock Musclecar Drag Race in their entirety for the "B" class stock car's. Most guy's who run in Pure Stock are Die Hard's and adhere to the rule's that have been in place for many years now, so if you use the PSMCDR rules for the NSCA race class, anyone who build's a car to run at NSCA could also compete in other existing Pure Stock/Factory Stock event's across the USA. Just an opinion, but I feel it's worth considering o No:
We will also be changing the *Modified Production* area of the site to reflect *Stock Appearing*, like it was before the meltdown. Give the guys a couple of days to let the dust settle, and it will be updated. :beer
lets go to the bar i know how ya feel,i just took a cut in hours and a 40% pay cut too boot after 20 yrs.but that gives me more time to work on my car and to spank the monkey.
The schedule is out, we start in Atlanta and run the remainder of the season. http://www.nsca-racing.com/index.php?page=schedule
