Hi all. Just got through putting on a complete exhaust system on the GSX. I replaced the stock manifolds with TA chrome longtube 1 7/8 headers, added a complete 3 in. aluminized mandrel bent exhaust consisting of a 3 in. X-pipe kit from Summit, Dynomax p/n 17769 muffs and TA 3 in. tailpipes. All I can say is WOW:grin: As expected, it really woke the car up in mid-upper RPMs. The fit is excellent and no other pipe was needed to install. All I had to do was trim the header to X-pipe connector tubes a couple of inches and everything lined up perfectly. I'm very happy with the Summit X-pipe and is about half the cost of a Hedman. As for the sound, it is great. Nice mellow idle, no interior drone, and a distinct growl when you mash the loud pedal without attracting to much of the wrong kind of attention. The long case Dynomax muffs are just right for this setup, as the shorter ones may have been a little to loud. Ground clearance is also good and it sure looks mean with those big pipes lurking out from under the rear bumper.:Brow:

If you wanna see a REAL "X" pipe, ask JW to post a picture of the one going onto Papa Hol's 455 Regal!:eek2:

I'd love to see it Jim. I need to finish the 455 first, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed on getting an x-pipe installed. I've seen several different ones now, and some were REAL CHEESY! I love my Mandrel-Bent 3" pipes from TA, and I won't compromise that quality!

Pics are worth a million words to me...:Brow: :TU: Actually, I'd REALLY like to see how they look on the inside!

Jason, is there a reason why you picked Summit's x-pipe? Price, quality???:Do No:

I recently bought all the hardware to do a 3" X-Pipe on my 70 Skylark. I also bought TA 3" tailpipes. I'm having a problem finding the right mufflers. The ones I originall bought were Magnaflow side-inlet center-outlet but they interfere with my Hotchkis braces. I'm going to try side-side mufflers and see if they work.

I went with the Hedman x-pipe this time, I have had two other cars that I put the Dr Gas x-pipe on. I can tell you that the finish quality inside the X was much nicer on the Dr Gas system.

I believe Dr Gas was the company that pioneered the X-pipes.

I hope to get mine done before 2004 it seems to be taking me forever!

Jason, please post pics if you can!

Sorry guys for not putting some pics of the x-pipe on here yet. Last week was crazy with much to do. I have to use the computer at my parents house because my antique POS computer at home does not have a USB port to hook up digital camera. I'll try to get over there in the next day or two and get them on the board.
