    Our doors won't shut!

    Hi,
We are having an issue with our project car and would like some advice. We installed the new door jamb seals and now the doors won't close all the way.It seems like the rubber at the front and rear top corners, which is not as soft as the rest of the trim but is most certainly the right part, is keeping the doors from shutting. Any clues?

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Will take a while for the w-strip to "set".
You can adjust the striker post slightly if needed. Otherwise
will take some effort to close the door.

    roll down the windows

Make sure the windows are down. Leave the doors shut for a few days and it should work out OK.
    Good Luck

I agree with the other replies that the door will have to stay closed a few days to compress the rubber. We have had to "trim" the back side of the molded rubber at the front of the door (making it thinner) because it makes the door too hard to shut since it does not easily compress like the original material. Now you see why people are willing to pay $500+ for NOS door rubber for their restored musclecars, the reproduction rubber just isn't the same as the soft originals

I have always wondered why GM was able to make soft rubber in the 60's & 70's but todays aftermarket can't... maybe the original process or materials were toxic or aren't available today?
