Happy Friday guys! I have a question probably asked several thousand times but if you could put any new carburetor on a 1970 455 built as a Stage 1 what would it be? The only requirements would be 1) it must be a new carb 2) it must fit and hold the original air cleaner with the hood shutting correctly. This car is not numbers matching nor is it even a GS but does have the GS hood on it and I want the GS air cleaner as well. She began life as a Skylark. No she will not be for sale. This needs to be a good, solid choice and a daily capable runner. No race car. The quadrajet is not present so no I can't rebuild that. Yes the heads are done with bigger valves. The cam came from T/A and is a stock Stage 1 replacement. Stock exhaust manifolds. So, what are your choices?
Contact Ken at Everyday Performance or Mark at Quadrajet Power and they'll hook you up with exactly what you need. Factory fitment and great performance. Tough to beat.
You can have a Q Jet built for your engine. It will perform better for your purposes than any new carburetor IMO. There are 2 guys on the board who can build you one, Ken(techg8), and Mark (carmantx). http://www.everyday-performance.com/ www.Quadrajetpower.com
Can also step up to an 800cfm core for some added performance if you want. Are you running a stock manifold with the divorced choke?
Buick’s love ❤️Quadrajet. Back in the day . Idiots called them Quadrajunk. Because they knew no better.
I'm very pleased with mine. It's actually more responsive than the rebuilt Holley 750 DP I previously had on it. The throttle is right there with each shift. You can literally feel it jumping forward.
Well i always thought The Quadrajets liked the Automatics. And the Holleys ran good with the 4 speeds.
Thanks for the advice guys!! It is a stock intake manifold and a divorced choke. I'll talk to Mark tonight and see where we go from there.
