Nice. I'd be into doing all that. I'd love to know where/why the ones that break do. Without that, no way to know if any of this will help but can't hurt. Obviously the OE cranks are a durable piece & likelihood of breaking one is slim. The weight aspect is inviting depending what (if any) the difference is.
