Well, it doesnt get much better than this. Last night at HRP, January 23, 2005, The Density Altitude = -1253 feet @ 6:00PM just as the sun was going down and the track was still sticking. I had trouble hooking most of the night, but lowered the tire pressure to 28Lbs @ 5:45PM, heated them up real good and ran: 2.007 60 Personal best 8.649 1/8 Personal best 13.445 1/4 Best with 3.55s 102.21Mph No tune up changes from driving it down to the track (125 miles round trip). I did disconnect the swaybar and let the airshocks all the way down. I also ran the following times spinning on a cold track: 2.062 31.5Lbs | 13.600 @ 101.52Mph 5:05PM (Spun) 2.047 31.5Lbs | 13.565 @ 101.77Mph 5:30PM (Spun) 2.007 28.0Lbs | 13.445 @ 102.21Mph 5:45PM (Hooked) :eek2: 2.032 27.5Lbs | 13.595 @ 101.29Mph 6:15PM (Spun) 2.046 27.5Lbs | 13.543 @ 101.85Mph 6:30PM (Spun) The track started really going away fast as the sun went down. After the track was oiled down, I decided to call it a night. The air was actually getting better as at 7:00PM the Density Altitude = -1466 feet. Setup: Matching numbers 340 w/ 10.02 (True) TRWs Stock intake with Thermoquad, stock exhaust manifolds with "cleaned up" heads by Hensley Racing Matching numbers 727 with Transgo2, reworked Hughes 11 converter (2600Rpm flash) w/A&A governor (6000Rpm shift point in drive) 3.55's gears with 205-70-14 Sumitomo HTR200 radials Sway bar disconnected when raced The motor was assembled in the fall of 1999 and has more than 8000 street miles accumulated on it since November of 1999. I have over 100 mile passes at the track. Fuel: (About 1 gallon of VP-12, the rest 92 pump octane) Average Cranking compression: 165 (Getting old) Plugs: NGK GR5 @ .037 gap (All slight tan color) Timing: Initial: 17 @ 975Rpm neutral w/13 of vacuum, in gear 925Rpm with 11 of vacuum Total mechanical: 35.0 @ 1600Rpm 15.5 of vacuum @ 1200Rpm 19.5 of vacuum @ 2000Rpm Hot oil pressure (4 qrts Chevron Delo 15W-40 + 15 oz of Valvoline Max Life Engine Protector) Idle: 20Lbs (950Rpm in gear) Cruise: 60Lbs (3000Rpm 63Mph) WOT: 60Lbs Water temperature: 180 (cruise) 200 (WOT or traffic) Impression: It's not pulling the Mph that it once did, but it sure is hooking at the track!
Congrats Brian !! :TU: Sounds like the ole Duster is running pretty dang good. Nice numbers --- fer sure. :beer
Hot Rod Duster That's a good running car! What was the MPH before? Have you ever run it with slicks? If so, what'd it run? With slicks and a loose converter, it'll go 12.70's to 12.80's (if you even care??? :Brow: ) Wayne
dang....... Sorry you couldn't hit that 1.99 60'! I see why you didn't call back....the night didn't get any better. Next time 22-23psi. Still pretty impressive considering the 125 mile round trip! What's round trip to Stanton from TX?? About 3,000?????? Does anybody notice that while we're under 12" of snow and single digit temps, good old Brian is RACING?!?!?!?!?!
First of all, we DID have about 10 minutes of snow flurrys on Christmas eve which caused people to pull over on the freeway, get out of their cars and stand looking up with their mouths open trying to catch a very rare Houston snow flake. And we did dip into the 20's (28) once this 'winter'. So it's not like we don't know what cold weather is all about! uzzled: Stanton is 'only' 2750 miles round trip or about 22 round trips to my local track! :3gears:
Wonder if you could sell snow on ebay? Seems like you can sell everything else. Jay Leno had his ebay thing on the other night and somebody bid a few hundred dollars for some water that Elvis left in a glass. And this was without the glass! (only the paper cup). Let's see, you could transfer his DNA to some of the yellow snow out behind the garage.......................... I'm about to the point I got to last year when I fired up the big Wheel Horse and plowed the complete back yard (and it's huge). Tired of looking at all this white crap!
Wayne, I'm down about 1.25Mph. I really like the current setup as I can drive it to the track, disconnect the swaybar, airdown the tires and run. 4.10's and a 3100Rpm converter might be too much for the E70-14's.
