    GS Kubisch THE "CUT-UP" BUICK

I talked to John earlier......The damage sounds to be mostly fiberglass with minor structural damage,All very repairable.

Stan is not even sore as of this morning......

I'm just thankful that at 160+ the car stayed upright while spinning around......Truly amazing considering dry track and tires.

Knowing what I know after speaking with John we can *TAKE NOTE*.....

    8.10

I really thought 8.30's at best for the first time out......Amazing what a good working car is capable of.

Wow, was surprised to read this. Am happy and relieved to hear your dad is ok!! Like Bruce said, if you need any help, just call! Let your dad know that I hope the car gets back together for Norwalk, my 'cash cow' needs to make me lots of $$$$ in '05

    Oh Well!

John, glad that Stan is ok, and sounds like the car did what it was supposed to do, protect him, hope you can fix it up, but this is # 3, and I hope it is the last deal we have to hear about. Our Buick racers need to be safe at any speed, and I'm really glad to hear, that the new car went fast, and was safe! That's the deal. Holler if you all need anything. Roberta

    Holly smokes,
I have to agree with Shayne on this one. When I read these stories I get sick inside. Sure am glad to hear he's ok, and congrats on a new best E.T. but it wasn't worth the scare.

    Thanks Everyone!!!

    Hey Gang,

I just came home from visiting mom and dad tonight. I cant believe it but dad has NO injuries, not even a sore muscle. After a closer inspection of the car in the daylight today it seems the damage to the chassis is truly minimal. I will need to get the front clip replaced and some new paint. We were going to paint it anyhow but now we have a good reason to get the job done.

Thanks for the offers of help everyone. Its nice to know you have friends who are willing to help out. I did talk to dad and he wants to rebuild and get this car into the 7s very soon.

    Scott (Hopson),

Thanks for all of your help getting the car ready to race and of course for helping pick up the pieces of the car. Its appreciated.

    JH,

After deploying the chute and then reaching up to turn off the ignition, dad said he thinks he pulled down on the steering wheel which sent the car to the left. The steering ratio on this car is EXTREMELY quick and may be an area of concern. Something I really need to look into.

    Thanks Again Everyone,

John ,if the chute deployed while the car was still accellerating with the stuck throttle, then the immediate engine kill would unload the chassis, and the chute would lift the ass end and the car will take off in the torque direction. I think one of the Jeg's boys had the same thing happen a couple years back...

    John,

First off I'm glad "pops" is alright! Please send him my regards. Definately a chute is going on my car, ordered it tonight along with additional bars to convert to a funny car cage. These last three serious wrecks show that we are all pushing the envelope to the limit and we have to keep safty as a number one issue.

On the better side of things.....HOLY SH%T!! 8.10!!! Running these little cars can be catchy. Congrats on your Halloween Scary Pass. Sevens are only a Buick Heartbeat away!

Good to hear Stan is Ok... I was afraid it was going to be something like this when I read your title John..

A little car?... you cheater...

Anyway, make sure you get the reason for that hard left figured out, more than likely it's in the rear suspension, or the chute anchor is too high, and lifts the rear end off the ground for an instant when it deploys. If the front wheels were pointed even slightly left, plus the fact it is prolly heavy on the LF wheel, it would take a u turn toward the wall like a wheelbarrow. Too low a mount would lift the front wheels off the ground, and too much preload in the rear, or slightly out of center/square rear would put it right into the wall.

It can appear to work perfectly and go straight under power, and be a real handful after the traps.

Check the frame too... may be bent where you don't notice it, if you hit the wall at 130+.. I would be surprised if it isn't.

You guys didn't want to take the winter off or anything.. did you?.. :Dou:

Sounds like a cool ride once you get it squared away.
