I had them mounted on my 10" wheels about a month ago and on Saturday I finally mounted the wheels on my '76 Century because I planned on going to the track on Sunday. Unfortunately on the one side I got down to only about 1/8" of clearance to the inside of the frame. The other side was acceptable but not great. I don't want to mess around with spacers or frame modifications. Never moved on the car so other than being mounted on the wheels they are as new so no pictures necessary. They will be going on Craigslist if I don't get any takers in a reasonable time frame. Good deal for you, not so good for me. $430 and I'll take the hit on shipping. If you are more local I'm in Lititz, PA. Heck, I'd deliver them if you are only an hour or so away. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3555/overview/
Hi mike Have you tried this type of tire before? do they hook like a slick? looking for tires for a 11.9 street car. Section width may be a problem on a 70-72 wheel well, will need to check current combo.
Gary, I've been down in the low 1.5's 60' fairly consistantly with my 295 M/T DR's running low 11's. I thought I would be able to cram a little more width in there just to get a touch more rubber on the track but alas... If I wanted to trim the inner lip and add 1/4" spacers I'd probably be OK. As far as fitment goes I know I've read a few thread's on here about fitting such a tire on 70-72's with the right wheel back space and probably rolling the inner lip. This is one I quickly found with a few talking about 325's: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/15-x-10-buick-rims-with-p295s-fitment-issues.322898/
325's fit perfect with a 5.5back space 10in wheel, you will need to roll the lips or at the very least trim them back 1/4in
That is the tire that I run in my 70-72 with an unmodified wheel well. 15x10 with 5.5" backspace. You also need to eliminate all of the unwanted badyroll,by stiffening up the suspension with better bushings, swaybar, etc. Where are you in Pennsylvania? East?
These are the tires on my car. Wheels are 15x10 with 5-5/8" backspacing. I can stick my finger between the tire and the frame. But it is very tight on the upper part of the fender well lip. Most will need to either trim it back or roll it up out of the way. Also you'll need airbags in the rear springs to keep the back end from bouncing much because they will rub up inside as it is curved up in there. Better choice might be the 295 and have no issues at all. I was using them when I ran 11.86 at 112 mph.
