Is that an accessory only, or all cars were fitted with ? Mine apparently never had it (and I prefer that way !) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2479068542&category=33640
An Option The front and rear bumper guards were an available factory option on the LeSabres and Centurions. They were quite common, but many cars were built without this option.
My 72' Riviera has both front and rear bumper guards. See avatar for front. ___________ Rob 1972 Riviera
I have an extra set of front and rear NOS bumper guards. Maybe one day to swap them with the ones on my car now:Brow:
Boattail Riviera Bumper Guards GoldBoattail455, many Buick dealers installed an after-market bumper guard during this era. I cannot see your avatar clearly enough to tell about the front bumper guards on your car, but I am quite confident that the rear bumper guards on your car are a non-Buick item. Having looked carefully at these cars from the time that they were new, I have never seen another boattail Riviera with rear bumper guards. It was not uncommon for the dealers to install their own protective side moldings as well. During the early 1970's, I saw numerous new Buicks with non-factory moldings. The non-Buick bumper guards and protective side moldings afforded some dealers an opportunity to generate additional profit when delivering new cars.
