I have the engine out while freshening up the engine bay. Is it possible to replace the rear rope seal with a new neoprene type without pulling the whole engine down? Want to check the bearings and replace if needed.
Carmen to the rescue again When I was rebuilding my motor last year, I purchased a neoprene rear seal from Carmen Faso. I believe that he sells a kit which allows you to replace the seal while the engine is still together, except for the rear main cap that is. I think his number is on this board somewhere, I don't have it handy but I will get it and post it. Just remember to tip it a little so that the seam in the seal doesn't line up with the seam in the bearing cap!
