Out in the Ole Boat stage 2 wagon last saturday night. Got my 12 bolt and 3:31's now, party is over!
My buddy from years back was in town and we had to go stir the pot at the local Cruz lot where all the ricers gather.

So here we are, I do my typical drive by the cruz spot 20 mile per our Jack down to 1st gear stab the throttle in high stall.

Yep, they take the bait, here they come like bees out of a Hive!

I turn the corner onto the 4 lane and I hear the all too familiar noise of the pop off valve on the Neon hammering away..

I stomp down and the mighty torque monster jump to life. Pull so hard in 1st to second I was not sure if he was still racing. It really was over right their and then.

We Hit the U turn and he pulls up and said "Man that thing is sick" What is it, I said its my moms wagon I dont know what the hell it has in it...He say bull......

I say: what is that thing.
He says: Man this is a Neon srt...xyz Bad boy whoope te doo blah, blah...

As we are rolling back approaching the spot where all his buddies are parked He desides to jump on it again to see if he can do better from a roll....NOT... I even gave him about 5 car lengths and came blowing by him right in front of the grand stands...what a mistake he made...

I think to myself Look at me out here 40 years old acting like a KID...What the hell it is alot of fun.

Best part is when I stopped and poped the hood. I got the whole motor painted stock including the Aluminum heads and have modified my stock GS Air cleaner to fit on top of the 1000 demon and SP2 intake. I even have the stock Valve covers with thick gaskets, no clue what they are looking at.. Looks so whimpy..ha ha...
Next a Grand National had to take a shot at the title, spank down again. I actually had some compasion since he was a fellow Buick Brother. I told him to bring it by and I would dial it in so He could stay with me next time. My buddy used to own this GN and we built it with normal mods. We ran 12.40 with it years ago. It should of gave the ole wagon a run for its money in tuned correctly.

Last night I drove by the spot again..Boring...no one wants to play anymore! The word is out...

However I did get Spanked severly by a 67 Chevelle that same night, the good part is it was my Dad! Old fart has a 10 second Chevelle that is a street bullet.
But that is family and does not count! And I was starting to think my Wagon was pretty fast.
I told him if I could loose 1000 pounds he would have a race on his hands. It made me remember how much faster a 10 second machine is to a 12 second. A hell of alot!

Didn't Bill have the Wagon from hell deep into the 10's? Sounds like it's time for a diet.

    Dennis,

Glad to hear you got that thing back on the road! Is the black beast road worthy as well?

    Scott,

I will try to snap some photos tonight. It is comming together good.

Just missing a radiator shroud, the last thing.

My Dad gave me a beautiful chrome plated Air cleaner lid, for all the slaving I have been doing on his GSX. It looks great on the Wagon.

I will try to get some pics posted.

    Hey Bro...

    Chris,

No, the Black Beast (GN) is still collecting Dust in the drive way. However I did just get my new turbo in yesterday. They did warranty it.

Need to muster up some enthusiasm to put it back together.
I went with a big shaft GT35/61, I did not want to chance another meltdown with a small shaft. I will let you know how it performs. Hopping to nudge a buck twenty in the quarter.

    Chris,

Dad and I put the new turbo 35/61 on the GN last weekend. Pulled the plugs and put a shop vac on the intake to blow out any metal the got in the motor. Seems to run well (thank god). The new turbo pumps out more volume than the 52 did and hits hard! Might have to up the stall on the converter due to some lag but it works good. So hopefully she is in good shape for next season.
