My daughter was 18 when she looked at my 1977 Riviera in Firemist blue with white landau top & interior and said: "He looks like a Louie". It stuck. I named my 69 Eldorado after the original owner, "Ms. Ida" and my 69 Vette is named "Brutus" after the Popeye character.
Loving all the names! And still am calling her "The Buick". My imagination needs an overhaul big time....
My wife nicknamed my original 'Lark (my avatar) "The Beast". It looked nasty (not necessarily good) and was always in need of something. At the end it also ran like a beast with the BBC I put in it. My current '64 started out as "Murphy" because a bunch of stuff went wrong on the way to get it. But since I'm sort of combining it with parts from a '65, its new name is "Morphy". Most of my other cars had names like "P-O-S", pile of junk, etc.
My 65 skylark was always called the "old girl" by me and my friends. After adding a few others to the fleet, there came the "new old girl" and then my truck the big dodge.
I call my Buicks the boat or the Buick. The '79 I call Black Betty's Child(think of ZZ Top's song).I have no idea what my wife calls them.:Brow:
From what I've seen, "the beast" is pretty common, it's what my friends and I usually refer to my 70 skylark as. Also we call it "the 'lark," ofcourse "the Buick," and I know it sounds weird but "Byurk," at times too. I want to call it the lazy-eye, because the passenger side headlight housing isnt properly seated and kinda aims low and to the inside, as if my car had a lazy eye... I know that skylarks are considered small on this board, but compared to contemporary cars, it's rather mammothish. It's also been called Big Red, but lately I've also called it the Big Red... well the abreviated would be BRB. She's loud and angry and will run a lot of stuff over, and right now it's being really obstinant and hard to work with. I cant figure out what "her" problems are. ou: a few other friends who have contemporary cars refer to mine as the "big block"
My Special is named "Lauren" My wife fell in love with that name the first time we found out she was pregnant, but after 6 years and 3 boys I felt I should put the name to use. She doesn't find it quite as funny...
All my cars/trucks have had names - can't help it when you get so attached: The Beast Midnight Lottie Grey Ghost-aka The Devil B!tch - gotta love 666 on the plate number Martha Scarlet Ruby Gus Red Bernice They're all female except the CJ3 - too much testosterone there!
My Uncle named my '73 Centurion the "Queen Mary". That's her formal name although she goes by "Mary" to her nearest and dearest. It's also known as the "Big Buick" from a time when I had an '83 Skylark as a winter car. That one was the "little buick". No one will ever get too excited about the Buicks version of the Cavalier but it was a very reliable surprisingly comfortable little car. John
I learned my entire repertoire of curse words listening to my father wrench on cars. So, I will refrain from sharing those nicknames.
Well it's official, we finally named our car -- Baby. Yep, as in nobody puts Baby in the corner. (Of course you won't have the slightest idea what I'm talking about unless you've seen Dirty Dancing...)
Last year on test n tune night I sitting on my hood waiting for my lane to be pulled. A very attractive but slightly drunk young lady came out of the stands, walked over to my car, stopped, walked around my car, stopped, looked at me and said "This bitch is nasty!". It's been called the "Nasty Bitch" every since.:TU:
As a Star Wars fan, I refer to all of my '70 GS's as the Millenium Falcon: "The Fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!"
Yea, kinda funny because I've always wanted to put this on my car. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...4HBCQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0 I've always thought the WW2 nose art was so cool. This plane is up the road in the USAF Museum.
