Yup, many of the regular ones at commercial airports used to use Ford 300 6-cylinders...with something silly like 9-1 rear end ratios.

When I used to work for "Northworst airlines" I worked on some of the tow vehicles. The "baggage" tractors had the Ford 300 straight six and I think the gear ratios were more like 14:1! The "tugs" as we called them weighed @ 6500 lbs and could pull 40k + pounds.
When we would repair them we would take the governors off and proceed to "test" them. They had drum type trans brakes that would provide some hitch dragging Pro-stock style launches!
I swear that as hard as we tried, we couldn't kill one of those 300 Fords!
