Pull the plugs, squirt some marvel mystery oil in each cylinder. Rotate the motor by hand(using a socket and breaker bar on the crank bolt) a few times, then squirt more oil in each cylinder. Rotate it by hand a couple more times, then put in a new set of plugs. Replace the points/condenser now and a fuel filter would be a good idea. Don't forget to put at least 5 gallons of fresh gas in the tank also, good luck!

Would Marvel mystery oil be better than WD-40?

    Thanks for the tip.:TU:

  4. I would strongly recommend pulling the distributor and using a drill to prim the oiling system..BG

I agree with all of the above. Also the nailheads are famous for collecting sludge on top of the heads. Pull pass. Valve cover and see if it is ludged. Remove whatever you find. Dan

Dan's right, I was just this morning looking at some pics of my beloved Super Wildcat engine after sitting for a while. It had sludge like bizzarre crystal palace stuff all over the rockers. I had run the thing every 6 months at least. I think a lot may have been the high humidity storage area. Ruined a bunch of nice chrome too.

I will definately pull the valve covers off to make sure i`m getting oil to them head when i prime the engine,i will clean whatever looks like sludge in there.

    Thanks
