I'm posting this here because it is not really for sale because I need to find some parts or trade if possible.

    I just had a shop rebuild a Q-Jet (7045240) which according to http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/engine/blueprints/BUI-75.rtf
is off a 75 455 with auto. The carb is missing the secondary vacc and linkage and I cannot find any in this area. If anyone has these pieces laying around it would help me very much.

If not, I am in need of a carb to go on my 70 350 with numbers like 7040244, 7029244, or 7041544 (now I know) and would like to trade if possible...I'm already out $150.00 for the carb, rebuild kit and the rebuild.

Can anyone help this now much wiser person out.

"missing the secondary vac and linkage....."

Are you referring to the secondary air valve ('choke pull-off')? That would (should) be available from any good parts store based on your carb number. The linkage is another story.

Can you post a pic of the right side of the carb? Might help us figure out what you need.

Cheap camera but it does the trick for parts.

The key word is good as in good parts store...if it ain't in the counter "box" they have no clue.

Something to consider here...are you sure that this carb uses these parts? Some of these carbs did not use the secondary pulloffs. Also, if the air valves did not use the secondary for control, the unit will perform perfectly without them, though it will not meet originality requirements. Accessing a vacuum diagram will verify their usage. Good luck. Ray

In case you didn't see it, there is one of these in the "Anyone need carbs for rebuilding" thread
