Can anyone post a picture of what a 1970-1972 Buick Skylark/GS Tilt Steering Wheel Column look like that DOES NOT have the Tranmission Shifter attached to the column. In other words, the Automatic Transmission shifts from the floor. Therefore the Column's "Coller" would be smooth.

The reason that I am asking is that I came across a 68 or 69 Olds Tilt Column Steering that was designed for cars that had the Automatic Transmission Shifting on the Floor Console.

When I looked at this Column, it looked different from what I remember seeing.

Anyone's help would be GREATLY Appreciated!!!

    Thanks

    Mark,

The second and third pictures in the thread below show two different sides of the column you're talking about....

Don't mind my gross interior...someday it will look A LOT better :Dou: :Dou:

    Thanks Brett!

Do you know where a can find a close-up picture of the "Neck" of the Column that disappears under the dash? I am needing a closer picture behind the Iginiton Key to be sure.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks again!!

    Mark,
My 70 Stage1 has a tilt column and console floor shift automatic. I can probably take some pictures tomorrow if you can wait. You want a close up of the section between the dash and firewall?? Let me know and I'll give it a shot.

    Mark,
I removed the access panel and took some shots. You really can't see much of the column because of ducting and wiring in the way. Hope these will do.

    Mark,
    Here's the difference in columns between '69 442 & '69 GS...

'69 -72 GS has the fishmouth cut in the top of the lower bowl to clear the lwr portion of the dash bezel, so does the Cutlass-442 column. Larry would need to pull the two 9/16" nuts & drop the column slightly so you could see this. Pontiac & chevelle column do not have this "fishmouth" cut.

The main difference is the '69 floorshift Cutlass-442 has a very short "leg" that the back drive linkage (shifter rod) attaches to. The Skylark-GS column should have the normal "dogleg" just like most other '69-72 A-body columns. Just something I have run across from pulling becoux of A-body tilt columns & tilt cores.

'69 & '70 BOP tilts should have the green tilt ignition switch, '71's & '72's used the "normal" tilt ignition switch shared with '69-72 Chevy tilts.

    Roger,

    Thanks for your insight!!

    Question.

Can I switch the "drive linkage (shifter rod)" from the Skylark Column and install it onto the Olds Column?
