I sold a set I had for many years last year and after doing a little digging through some other parts today I found I had a system that was from a GS that had caught fire. The plastic from the fans was melted but the brackets are good and from what I can tell comparing it with a rear window defrost its the same fan and motor. What I need to know is what did the plastic look like that surrounded it ? I may have to make something out that will work but kind of feels like its worth a try.

Previous set I had for sale link

Here are some pics of the system I dug out today

This is the fan I had to fight with to get off the bracket.

I have the complete system out of my '71. Might take me a bit to get to it.

Thank you. This helps me see the shape of the plastic part. I would imagine I could get something made similar in a thin metal but could be way more work than I want to take on. I was a bit worried not having the plastic housing would present more of a problem than replacing the motor and fan.

Not a common option and would be cool but I think I have more than enough to do other than this. Unless I could find a set I think this is going to be a pass on putting it in the GSX

What would it take to scan and 3d print the ducts?

They're a pretty low profile cage, and the openings for which they are fed through are limited in size.

I PM'd chad who made the battery cable hold downs. Maybe he can comment on the 3d Printing possibilities.

    Thanks Marty.

I could print the squirrel cage, fan duct and even the mounts. I have a 3D scanner, but it would be probably faster and easier to model from scratch. If there is a desire and a willingness to ship to me a sample I can work it. Coincidentally my convertible radio bezel is already cut for the switch (I didn't do it) and I had been thinking of recreating this solution with off the shelf fan motors etc. since my car is a heater only option.
