I swapped 76 heads and intake with items from 1970. The bolt holes from 76 to 70 for throttle cable is different. Can someone snap a pic of their 70 455 motor (LeSabre if possible) so I can see how that setup looked? Thanks!

Couldnt find the thred about the heads and intake differences, so I'm adding it here... ws

Theres a few differences between the 70 & 71 intake versus the 72 and up. The 72 used an A.I.R. pump and has cast in runners in the intake. The plenum heat crossover is different as well. The early heads have two 1/2" passages and the 72 & up have a larger port thats' integral with the EGR valve. I believe the earlier heads have 69CC(?) chambers and the smog heads have like 73 or 74 CC chambers.

The manifold style has to match the heads. The other issue is that the factory left the oil passage in the block to oil 430 heads. The 455 stuff is all oiled through the lifters and hollow pushrods. I block off my oil hole so that oil doesn't weep out past the gasket and pool on the timing chest by the distributor.

I also plugged my cross over ports (bad advice given here:() since it takes a good 30 minutes of driving to heat the manifold. The car runs really lousy when its cold and the divorced choke/fast idle wont work either.

Heres some pics of the differences. I think the early 455 intakes flow better as well. 1970 was the "hot" year for performance and after that, well, there was a substantial drop off in HP ratings. ws

Thanks for effort... But I'm looking for pictures of what the bracket looks like assembled on the intake. The 76 car I have uses two bolts on the intake to fasten down the bracket. The 70 intake I am installing does not have those holes. So I'm looking for pictures to see how the 70 setup looked.

That was from a thred you posted this morning and when I went to respond this afternoon it vaporized. Heres the hole on a 1970 intake with a throttle rod (1964 vintage!). The 1970 bracket below is the correct 1970 I believe. Need one? ws

Huh... That is a notable design change. Your picture is huge help! I can reverse engineer a solution to make the 76 cable bracket function
    Thanks!

BTW... If anyone on the Minneapolis area has a valley pan for 70 455... Let me know.

This is actually a great picture! I didn't think to use the carb mounting bolt as a fasten point for a bracket! I could use the bolt along with an existing bolt point in manifold to hold down the metal piece needed to bolt the existing 76 bracket to. Keep the pics coming! So far 70 heads are on and intake goes on tomorrow. Other big mod is redoing the source for brake booster vacuum.

Only one screw was used to hold the bracket on that I have ever seen. There is a tab also than fits in a hole. All my knowledge is 70-72. BD169A95-71B1-421C-A296-A7DEB5C4F30B.jpeg

There's the cable and bracket, and the power brake connection.

YO BRIZ... can you elaborate on how a 1970 ended up with a throttle rod instead of a cable ??

I was able to order a tin intake gasket locally. Dont fall for the individual gasket game! Youll be sucking up crankcase oil vapor and smoking like Cheech and Chong! ws

Intake valley pan kits are usually a one day order at any parts store. Felpro

Dont know. as far as I can tell that Electra has never been touched under the hood with the exception of a past owner going to town with chevy orange spray paint. The Riv's throttle is exactly the same. Maybe they changed mid year to a cable. That car now has a deposit on it and will be going to her new home next weekend.

So weird. I thought with 1967 or 68 FMVSS, (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) a cable was mandatory for torn motor mounts etc. just like the dual master cylinder, side marker lights, and a host of other goodies. FMVSS 501 (1971) required front brakes on semi tractors for example. ws
