PLEASE, PLEASE CONTACT Jim Burek before you get into the deal. He's the one closest to you, of the speciality Buick shops, and he is super. From my experience, and foul ups!!, it is very cost effective to get good advice on the front end and plan the project before starting. Decide what you want, and what you may want later, and do as much as you can the first time around. I can attest to the cost of not doing it that way!

Jim went way out of his way to help me through my last mess, and the car is running stronger and is built better. Love the cam he recommended and installed it just as he said. Best of luck with your project. :3gears:

    regal engine swap

Hey dude I am very new to this board. I attempting a similar swap in my 87 Regal Limited with the 3.8. I tried this several years ago and got screwed royally. I found a decent mechanic to do the swap. I am having a hard time deciding what engine to swap with and what all i need. The mechanic says it'll be easiest to just bring him a car with the engine and tranny I want to use. However, b/t classifieds, message boards, and ebay it is easier to find stuff in piece versus a whole car. I am have a hard time deciding what motor. Buick 455, 350, chevy 350, 400 or olds 403. if you could share any info with me I would greatly appreciate and reciprocate if I find out anything worthwhile to share.

    email..chip.smith@excite.com

    thanks

    swap ..

    Hi,

I did this to a 81 grand prix and it's simple ! The passanger 350 mount bolts right up but you have to use the 3.8 drivers side motor mount .. The frame mounts from the v6 work .. Tranny is the same bolt pattern (Buick, olds, pontiac ect) and I didn't have any problem with blowing trannies. I would do a shift kit though (I did) .. Feel free to message me if you need any more info ..

    Will
