A guy stopped by my shop yesterday since I have GS'S and asked if I was interested in a '87 GN. I have not seen it but he says it has 70k miles and is in excellent shape. I asked about paint, body damage, interior, undercarriage, and engine bay. He said everything is very very nice. He says it runs very strong but it seems to be not building as much boost as he thinks it should. He says it makes about 8# of boost. Is that bad/good? I don't know much about GN's but if it is a good deal I might be willing to buy it. I do like them a lot. He says he needs to get about $10,500 for it. Is that a good price? He lives close to me so he is supposed to bring it by for me to see this weekend. I'd like to know if it is a good deal before he brings it. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks Guys,
    Randy

If all is working right on the car, a 70k car could go $12-14k. I sold a very nice factory stock one last year with 72k on for $14,500.
The boost problem could be the wastegate failing, or someone turned it way down to hide a problem, and keep it from knocking. Verify how he is reading the boost levels, if it off the gauge on the dash, they arent worth a damn.
One could be ans easy fix, and the other.....
See if he has a scanmaster in the car, and then go run the car and check the readouts.

My boost guage on the dash has never worked and mine only has about 16K miles. I reckon it's worth high teens with low miles. But they made 50K of these cars. That's the mind boggling part. And many of them are very low miles and hermetically sealed in plastic.

So in summary my opinion is that a 16K mile car like mine is about 20 or less. A high mileage 80K car is as Mark said before in the 12-13K range if it's all original. Of course depending on the mods and whether you want them or not will add or detract. What's interesting is that all mods are bad unless the buyer wants the mod. You have significant negotiations room for all the mods if you know what I mean.
