I'm in the process of restoring a 1970 GS Stage1. I have removed the parking brake pedal bracket. I can see were the cable comes through the floor, but can't figure out how to get it back through the firewall. I didn't want to pry around on it and break something. Thanks for any help, Kraig

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Parking cable comes from the outside to the inside. There is a sharp bend in it and you will need to have the fenderwell off in order to route it properly. Maybe you can explain your problem a lil more???

I think I know what the problem is. Where it goes through the floor there is a barbed fitting. In order to get the cable out, the barbs must be pushed flat to back out of the hole. There are two things we tried, I don't remember which worked better.
1- Use a small hose clamp around the bottom of the barb tangs. Tighten it until the tangs are flat and it should tap lightly out.
    or
2- Tap[ a proper size deep well 16 point socket over the cable and down onto the barbed tangs, pushing them flat while someone pushes up on the cable from underneath. I think is the way that worked best for us.

Coincidentally, we just finished replacing the whole E-brake system on our school project GSX clone today. Looks good. Works good.

Thanks Oklahoma I wasn't sure if the tabs compressed, extented or twisted. I thought I'd better ask before I tore something up.

also a 1/2", 13mm 14 mm etc. 12 point box wrench works well to compress those tangs.
