need some help guys... My brther has a 92 olds silouette minivan with a 3.8. The problem is that it's eating ignition modules. Been thru 4 of them this week!!!:eek2: Put a new one in, it starts, runs, and everything is ok for 15 minutes or so... Shut it off and it wont re-start. Sometimes it'll re-start if it sits for an hour or so, but not always. Take the [new] module out, and have it tested, and it's bad... Someone told him it could be the crank pick-up sensor blowing the modules... Any thougts????? Also, the van was wrecked last year, pushed the radiator into the [electric] fan and burned it up. Trying to replace it, but it wont kick in... Obviously a sensor or relay bad.... Anyone help me with this one??? Where is the sensor/relay located on this sucker???? Thanks a lot... Darryl
not sure on the crank sensor killing the modules..... I would think more along the lines that the coil or secondary ignition might be causing the short life span. The relay for the cooling fan is in the underhood fuse box. Here is a link for you to view the wiring diagram. WIRING DIAGRAM HERE Hope this helps......also check the plug in on the fan motor, they are commonly melted. Oh...and welcome back...we all missed you.
