I was informed last week that my '64 Electra needs a new set of drums all the way around. Up front are the aluminum ones, and the rear has the steel. If anyone out there can help it would be greatly appreciated. Since I use this as my tow vehicle for my mobile detailing business, I hope to find a set real soon -- if you happen to be in the SO CAL area, I'd be happy to sweeten up the deal with some automotive beautification services :)

  2. are they the 45 fin fronts or the 90 fin fronts.
rear shouldn't be a problem and i can get either 45 or 90 fin but they are expensive drums. let me know which ones on the front.
i live in wisconsin so shipping comes into play as well.

 I clean her, massage her fenders till they are all sparklie every week as well as work the chrome tell my arms are sore. I keep her well maintained and purrin like a baby wildcat -- and just as with any 30+ year old -- things start to wear and sag. Besides It is highly impressive when I roll up to do a new car in something as fast and classy as this :)

I think I might have found a closer set. If you don't mind me asking, what is the max these drums can be turned before thet are oversized?

    in 67 the big cars

MAX inside diameter was 12.08 and 9.565 on the gs. I don know if its the same in a 64.

  8. they say max is 12.180. but have cut them down less than that because brake shoes come oversize either way and i do not have problems with them.
i hope you got a good price and sorry i couldn't give you a better deal.
i have a partner on the drumes and rotters with me.
we have been getting $125 to $150 on ebay for 90 fin drums and
$225 to $240 one the 45 fin drums a pair.
rear drums are cast with steel centers and been getting $50 to $75 on them as well on a pair
if you need the oversize brake shoes try your local buick dealer. they can get them and have gotten them for me in the last month for someone we have sold drums to..

The ones I found I was told were "worn 20 thousands" on the front and 30 on the rears -- are these gonna be ok?

    67 new drums

diameter was anywhere from 11.997 to 12.022. I would have them measure where they are now but sounds like they are ok.
I assume they are the same as the 67 drums.

Thanks for all the help thus far. Where on the drums are they stamped/cast with the max dia?

  12. should be stamped on the outer edge of the rim of the drum. as they are on the car looking at the wheel studs look at the outer edge. sounds like you found a good pair of drums.
