OK...im not having much luck finding a 70 GS 4 speed, so im going to see who might have a full 4 speed set up to convert an auto into a stick car. I will need EVERYTHING from the 4 speed hump to the pedals and z-bar to linkage, tranny, even a console, what do any of you guys have? I want to see whats out there. Thanks- ray

I have a rebuilt 4 speed saginaw if you are interested? I'm in Connecticut. I know it's not a Muncie, but it'll save you a lot of money

Ray , the Parte Place has a kit thats not a buick kit I believe the parts are Chevelle repro stuff . It would fit but it doesn't have a trans or shifter, and none of the consolette peices . If you do a Non console with an after market trans and shifter you'll do well with the kit . I have been collecting parts for this for years and have 95% and have invested 3K+ in this stuff . Buick 4 spd parts are tough to find and expensive as you know

Is there a significant difference in the linkage, pedals, etc. setup that would effect using a buick console and shifter? If not i may opt for the kit that parts place sells. I realize it is for a chevelle, but if it looks and fits correctly without looking wrong then it might be easier then trying to find a used buick set up.

Looks like fif you use a repo shifter and a Muncie trans the TPP kit would serve you well . I do not believe that anyone makes the correct hump yet . TPP Kit with no console is a go I bet . I was saying if you use the kit and after market non console stuff your good . Anything that looks Buick correct with consolette might be a lot harder to come up with . I still need the upper and lower boot for my set up . The TPP catalog online has the kit listed and the parts it comes with . I think its all under the dash so it would not be noticed . It would be up to you if you want to try to make a consolette work with a repo Hurst shifter and Kliner makes a bunch of stuff now for the 4 spd .

I bet you could send that speedo out and have the front screened without the PRNDL Where ever they repair guages

Well it seems like i can get the 4 speed parts in repro form to make it a 4 speed...but the console..that might be tough to find! :3gears:

I have seen the repro pedals, and they are cheesy.

What I ended up doing to a 70 442 is buy a complete 4 speed parts car for the manual stuff. I wanted to go 100% GM.

By the time I bought the parts, had everything rebuilt or replated, I dropped about $3,500.

Then it was another 40-50 hours of labor to make the swap.

I like a 4 speed in a big block car.

The only change I made was to have a set of Masiero M22 gears put into the M21 case. I love the M22 gear whine......:TU:

I think Kleiner is reproducing a lot of the harder to find stuff like the Z Bar and even the shifter/handle (you just need to call him and ask).

Also---if anyone can take some measurements I would be willing to bet that the Z-bar in that Ebay auction that was linked to is the exact same as the Olds Z-bar. From looking at the pics it sure has the same look as an Olds piece and I have been getting up close and personal with some original 70 Olds manual shift parts lately so I'm not just going off memory. I have a 70 Olds Zbar sitting 10 feet away from me right now.

Can someone post a pic of AN ORIGINAL BUICK 70 Z Bar with some tape measurements?? I can compare that to what I have and maybe it will open up the possibilities for Ray.

Ive heard of Kleiner reproducing some of the 4 speed stuff..but i dont know his number or his company name? I could definetely get a complete 4 speed setup from an olds but like ive said, im not sure if it will all fit correctly or look correct compared to a buick set up. This would all be much easier if i just found an original 4 speed car...:Brow:
