    Ok here we go.
Building the 455 for the sport wagon. Will be doing a manual conversion and the 455 transplant.

Have located a balanced 455 punched .30 with ported iron heads. Having Wicher (did I spell that right) do the block and up the compression to 11:1.

To explain I am having the the motor built and installed by Friends in Florida Via long distance.

Ok, at this point I can cam and gear the car any way I want.
I am planning on running a 5 speed so I can run low gears and have a Hi-way gear ( dont know why, Im in Alaska with not a Freeway within 2500 miles).

Here is what I want to accomplish: To stomp the Hell outa every one in site with a Wagon, thats all.

I have 100 octane av gas at my disposal, I am not worried about fuel but dont want to run all out big $$ race fuel.

What gears and Cam should I run? I would like to stick to a Hyd. cam.

If anyone has some proven combos that they can pass on to me I would be greatfull. Remember I have to move this big wagon and that wont be easy.

    Thanks Guys

PS. Has anyone found me a GSX to Buy yet?

    Dennis,

Here's the buildup on my wagon. I can get you the cam specs if you'd like but off the top of my head I think the newer SP4 I'm using has 241/255 duration @ 0.050" and .541/.532" of lift on a 106 deg. centerline.

I'd be happy to answer any question you may have. Love the bright red color on the wagon!!

The cam is 226 duration at .050 on the intake and 238 dgrees on the exhaust. The valve lift is right at .500 with a 1.55 rocker. the cam is on a 113 lobe separation.
The cam will idle at 700 to 750 with a lope and pulls hard form just over 2000 all the way to 5900 rpm.
The very first time I used this cam was in a 70 wildcat, I could not believe how responsive this big boat was. We had some mildly ported stg-1 heads on it and 9.4 to 1 compression. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES

What gears would you recomend ?

Would you recomend a 4:10 or should I stick with a higher gear and take advantage of the torque?

The Wildcat I did had 3.23 gears, I've used the cam with 3.42's, 3.73's. I even have this cam in a 76 Buick regal with 2.41's in the back. The cam does make torque. Jim Burek
