I have a 68 Riv. When I bought the car it did not have the headlight vacuum canisters bolted in the car. I do have them but I do not think that they are good. How can I test them, I see that there are two hose nipples on them. When I hook up my vacuum gauge to either one it does not move the arm nor will it hold vacuum so I assume that they are bad. Can they be rebuilt?
Does anyone have good used ones they would sell me?
    Thanks Tim

Tim, there are repro cannisters available from www.gmobsolete.com, but they retail at $295 each ! :eek2:
Year One has repro Camero cannisters a little cheaper, but they must be modified to fit the Riviera system.
Good 'used' are available from time to time on evilBay, but the reliability of a 40 year old part is questionable. :Do No:
At this time, there is no one rebuilding the cannisters, as they are prone to corrosion, and good reliable cores are almost unobtanium.
The '68 Shop Manual details the Riviera vacuum system in detail, and all the components of the system must be in good working order for the headlights to function properly.
Trouble shooting the vacuum system in a '68/'69 Riviera can be a PITA ! :af:
