    Howdy,

Well due to the vagracies of eBay I didn't get the 65 Skylark I was hoping to pick up, long story. This puts me back to about square 2. I have an engine, rear suspension and a transmission ready to be ordered but no sheetmetal for it all to call home. The engine is a twin turbo Buick v6, the tranny is a switch pitch 400, and the rear end is a C4 Dana 44 IRS. This is driveline combo thats going to live in some car, preferably classic Buick tin though I've not ruled out getting some revenge on chebbys and putting it in one of those if I can find one. The A-body, specifically 64-67 Skylark/GS/Special is an extremely tempting option due to the aftermarket support but I am drawn to the lines of the 61-62 Special 4dr. The problem is that its a tiny car with a tiny engine and tranny and more importantly its a unibody. This puts all sorts of complications into trying to adapt the rear end especially into it. I've found a very nice and very cheap 62 special 4dr for sale in drivable shape but right now the suggested way of reinforcing the "frame" is to weld like 1/8" steel plate to the sides in kind of like a U channel overlay to beef up the frame to take the eventual 600 rwhp of the motor and not buckle as well as provide a mounting point for the IRS. The question is should I hold out for decent A-body or go free lance engineering and cut up a nice 62 Special in my effort for a something like pro touring car?

    Thanks,
