I'm about ready to put the final touches on my 455. It's 10.3:1 compression with an SP-1 intake and TA113 cam. Heads flow about 270/160. Everything has been rebuilt. I have a 800cfm QJ for street and a mechanical 850 cfm Holley for strip. What spark plugs should I be running? What's a good starting point on jetting (Holley)? How far do I need to turn in screw on adjustable oil pressure before firing up? Any other pointers you want to throw out there are appreciated too. This engine will be broken in on a dyno.

For spark plugs, I recommend the NGK UR-5,

I would break the engine in with the Holley 850 DP, and just use the stock jetting. The Q-jet needs to be calibrated for your engine. It may be lean, and that is why I would break in the engine with the Holley.

The oil pressure regulator should be left alone. Oil pressure is really no concern for break in. As long as the oil pump clearances and bearing clearances are proper, you should have more than enough oil pressure for break in RPM.

Good luck. As long as you have a good gauge and you can monitor the oil pressure, you are good. Break in RPM is 2000 RPM or so. All you need is 30 psi, but you will have way more than that. I would have as many pairs of eyes as possible to watch things. Biggest concern is leaks, and engine temperature.

I'll be in the room with engine. I've watched these guys dyno several engines and no problems so far. I'll have a set of gauges hooked up as well as their gauges.
