I was just going to say that if anyone needs help I can resize photos for them, either to post on the board or to use as their avatar. Any digital picture will work for the Avatar (the picture that is under each person's name) but a well lit picture works best. Just drop me a line, either by PM or email, and I can get it done. It only takes a couple seconds to do the resizing. Just thought I would offer the service to anyone who needs it! I think it makes the board more interesting, being able to see what cars people have:Brow:
IrfanView That's what I use for resizing images. You can download their free shareware here: http://www.irfanview.com/
Jasc Software's Paint Shop Pro 7. It takes a little bit to learn how to use it, but I have the basics down. You should be able to find it pretty easily online.
I like the re-smoothing that Photoshop performs when you resize an image. That way you don't get nasty jaggered lines when you make an image smaller. If you have any pictures that are not turning out the best you think they can, pass them onto me at bill@buickstreet.com and I'll give them the photoshop treatment. Between us I'm sure we can keep this board looking as good as it can.
Yep. :beer There are a lot of guys here without avitars, and it doesn't take any time at all to resize one. Just send bill or me whatever picture you have (or the nicest one you have) and we can doctor it up real quick. It almost puts a face (or car) to the name...
As far as free goes, it's tough to beat the irfanview program. I've used it to downsize a bunch of "big" digital photos I took on vacation. It allows you to specifiy what kind of changes you want to make to a group of photos, select them, then it'll automatically resize and place them in whatever destination folder you want. Very useful. I've also got Adobe Photoshop which you really can't beat if you want to touch up or adjust your image in some way (color contrast, etc...).
You can't beat Photoshop 7! (unless your wallet doesn't have 5 bills to spend) ou: PaintShopPro is 'okay' imho. I've never tried Irfanview but have heard of it. True PSP isn't free... But it could be...... :Brow: You'll never find a better resizer then photoshop for image quality tho... i'm gonna try somethin here.. lets see if anyone notices....
so, uh, Scott.... how's about passing that CD this way:Brow: ? Just kidding! PSP works OK, but as far as I am concerned does lack in a few places. The smoothing ability that Photoshop has sounds pretty neat. One of these days....:bglasses:
Let the talley begin... Pen & Postit note is ready.. How many will notice... Only one week folks, then it's all over.. PSP is 'okay'.. I kinda think of it as a GIMP only for Windows.. You *nix buffs know what I'm yakin bout.. Being shareware is a plus, tho I think a tad umm overpriced.... One mans opinion...
i use photoshop 5.5...never upgraded to 6 or 7 becuase it suits my needs just fine. (that and i disliked 6 when i tried it after it's first release) i have it stripped down in a 20mb zip, but i couldn't pass it out...twould be illegal.uzzled:
Oh yeah?? I foud it too, I think. But what now? I can't seem to get into it and time is a wastin'.ou:
if you guys have any questions pop me a pm or email (or just pst in the thread) and maybe i can help you out.
I found it, checked it out, but didn't do anything with it in the end. A few I couldn't access though either.
I spent 3 months working in Moscow, Russia last Summer. I discovered that Russia does not respect copyright laws so you could buy just about any software, CD's or video games for unbelievably low prices. Adobe Photoshop 6.0 (the latest version at that time) was 70 Rubles. That is the huge sum of $2.50 ! :eek2: Music CD's were even cheaper. You could get just about any CD for $2.30. And not just old stuff. A new CD could be released in the U.S. on Monday and by Wednesday (or sooner) it would be for sale all over Moscow. I was tempted to bring home a suitcase full of CD's & software but I was worried about customs. Of course, I may have brought a few home..........:Brow:
The offer is still open to anyone who needs a photo resized to be used on the board or to post as their avatar. It's kinda like putting a face to a name...except putting a car to a name
