Name that Buick?

    I was scouring a regional junk yard for quarters for my 67 Cougar, when I realized I was in the presence of several 1940's and 1950's classics. The grass was as high as my shoulders in spots, and am sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but it was well worth it.

    Anyone able to give me the make/model/year based on the four pics provided? I sent an email to the yard owner, asking how much he'd take for the instrument panel. It seemed to be in very good condition, and mostly chrome, with several dial faces. I figure that someday I might be able to put that panel and related parts from that car on a much better roller. The cars I saw were rolling works of art. Thanks, Eric.

    55 or 56 Packard.

    You may laugh at me but it looks to be the Russian car that was built in the 50's to look like a Packard.I don't think it is a Packard, maybe??????????

    Since I've been stuck in the late 60's as far as car/part values, what would parts like trim, fenders, hood, trunk, instrument panel be worth? Found squat on eBay.

    I took dozens of other car pics, and I missed probably about 3/4 of the rest. Will post some other interesting ones, and try to focus on Buicks, which I thought incorrectly this one was. Saw some really nice Studebakers...

    You know it's got be HARD to find stuff for Packards and Studebakers. If I found those cars. Maybe, try and get on their forums and see? Post the pics of Studebakers and Packards there? And here, too for that matter. I'ld like to see them.

    Did y'all have red bugs where you are? And, ticks? I hope you had some bug repellent on you. Or you going to be ITCHING!!!:shock:

    Those square vent windows, and curly cue bottom of the windshield corner - well, that looks a lot like my sister's 1957 Rebel - AMC . . . AMC got caught with all the remnants of Studebaker, Kaiser, Frazier, and a host of other acquisitions, and I would imagine their cars were more contraptions than anything else. :grin:

    Don't recall that V8 logo on the rear roofline ? :Do No: The Rebel was a V8, with Automagic Transmission

    I hate to disagree, but AMC had nothing to do with Studebaker and the Kaiser-Frazer acquisition was much later. As far as I know, that was their only acquisition.

    AMC was formed by the merger of Hudson and Nash in 1954.

    Kaiser-Frazer bought Willys-Overland in 1953, eventually became Kaiser Jeep and was bought by AMC in 1970.

    Studebaker and Packard merged in 1954 and stopped making cars in 1966.

    The dashboard pictures tells me Packard, for certain.

    Packard bought Studebaker. However, for 1957 Packards were rebadged Studebakers. Later, the decision was, to cease Packard production and continue with Studebaker. Then in 1966, Studebaker production ceased. The company did not go out of business, they just stopped their auto production.

    The creation of American Motors, was the result of a merger between Nash and Hudson. Kaiser Frazier (which produced Jeeps and larger military trucks) was acquired by AMC.

    Kaiser automobile manufacturing was moved to Argentina.

    Jeep was later sold to Chrysler.

    AMC was changed to AM General, and produced the military HummVee, and, currently produce the Abrams Tank (turbine engine supplied by Chrysler)
