Hi,does anyone know if they make an adaptor for a Nailhead to use a 455 bellhousing or tranny? Thanks
George, Somebody makes an adapter to mate nailheads to later style automatics. I don't see why it wouldn't work for a later style bellhousing/flywheel set-up. I'll see if I can search for the manufacturer....:TU:
Here's a link to the adapter that I was thinking about. I forgot that it adapts to the Chevy bolt pattern. ou: Still, it might be a possible solution. http://transmissionadapters.com/53-66_nailhead.htm
yea,but was just preparing myself incase i would`ve lost, lol, hey Rob,when did u sell your set up? Thanks
Hey Rob,other than that stuff i got on ebay what will i need to complete this project?besides trans, clutch, press.plate? Thanks
I'm probably not the Rob you were refering to but I'll give it a shot. Shifter and back-up light switch :3gears:
You'll need a pilot bushing for the crank....Carmen Faso has 'em. Also: wiring for back up light switch, bellhousing dust cover....and trans, and shifter, of course. Damn! you won that e-bay setup with only 3 seconds left!!!....you have either an extreeeemly fast connection, or a slow one.... and lots of luck!! Thought you were selling your 66???, do you have another project in mind?? curious minds want to know.... I still need a pedal setup and lower frame bracket for a 66 GS 4 speed setup, if anyone has those available.....
Hey Walt, yea i thought i would need a pilot bushing,is it the same as the 455`s?i bid on that auction last minute, you were keeping on eye on it?do you think the price was right?i will PM you with a guy`s email address that may have those peices you`re looking for,if you do not get a PM today i`ll let you know monday because im not on my home comp. for the weekend. Thanks
Thanks George! I'll buy you one :beer if your lead pans out! For the pilot bushing, this was posted on the Yahoo site: >>Carmen Faso has them, the turbo-glide bushing for a chevy works, it is a one piece unit. You my find one locally, Dorman # 690-035 ----- Russ<< Do you have the '66 chassis manual? There's a procedure you should follow to install and align the bellhousing. There are also nice exploded views of the whole setup. I'd say you bought a nice, very complete setup....it even has the upper frame bracket which was welded to the frame....It's hard to put a price on a setup like that.
I never knew that MT models came that way and AT models had a two peice driveshaft. Guess I learned something new today. BTW, when you can't find something, always check Carmen first, he's got everything.:Brow:
Hey George, would you send me the info...... you did mean LAST Monday, didn't you? ...I need the pedals and lower frame bracket for a '66 GS. Thanks.
