The only thing I would say would make that pic better, would be on the left side of the pic, top, just offset from the air filters, a grinning Cheshire cat eyes, nose, mouth, looking at the engien from an angle. No head outline, just the eyes, nose and grinning mouth.

Bill, I don't seem to have the spreadsheet handy here at work anymore. I've got it at home, but am too busy getting ready to race my Buick this weekend in Las Vegas. Should have it to you by Monday. In the meantime, Edelbrock was kind enough to put the owners manuals for the AFB clone on their website, you can find a tuning procedure there. That's where I got the idea for that spreadsheet, Edelbrock has charts in the owners manual for their tuning kits that show the effect of a rod or jet change. I did the same thing, but with all available rods and jets. The Edelbrock tuning kits are also a poor selection of parts (like Carter), but at least with them you get the springs. So for now, read the Edelbrock book online. You'll like the tuning procedure - it involves making WOT runs. Let us know what jets & rods you find inside. When I looked inside mine (Carter 9635), the rod was stamped with a number that the Federal Mogul tech could not decipher. I had to mic it to find out that it was the original .070 x .047 rod. Have fun.

I won't be using that image because it has certain flaws but instead will be using an imgae just like it but with some better details. The large radiator hose is one of the areas I don't like and the blue fuel hose has a grease smudge on it that bothers the hell out of me every time I look at it (I hope I haven't killed it for those with this pic as their desktop - sorry if I have).

I'm having some trouble getting the screen printers around here accept a full colour photo without them talking "transfer" (yuk). Screen printing can be a maximum of 6 colours so I started to experiment and you know what? Black and white doesn't look that bad. It would also be a lot cheaper for everyone which is good news.

Here is the T-Shirt with the B&W image. I lowered the engine a little What do you all think? Go or no Go?

    I have 401 and 398* jets and 16-691 (.076 x .055) rods and black springs

    .101 minus .076 = .025 Jet area (Cruise Step)
    .101 minus .055 = .046 Jet area (Power Step)

I have a 16-241 in the kit which is .0705 x .0475 which will increase the metered area to .030 (+ .005 Cruise step) and .053 (+ .07 Power Step). That would be close to your suggested rod size and I can also reduce the jet size to a 98 if you think it would help. This would still provide an increase of .003 and .005 in metered area. Then I would have the same size primary and secondary jets - that doesn't sound correct though so would I have to reduce my secondary jet size as well? I suppose it's nearly impossible without an oxygen sensor of some type but I guess seat-of-the-pants will have to do for now.

The jet sizes I have to play with are...

    71, 74, 77, 80, 83, 86, 89, 92, 95, 98, 101, 104, 107, 110.

The rod sizes I have to play with are...

    .0750 x .0550
    .0730 x .0600
    .0715 x .0580
    .0705 x .0475
    .0680 x .0555
    .0650 x .0520

I have made a simple spreadsheet which calculates the metered area of every combination in the kit which I have attached below. This takes some of the guess work out of what is going on.

*one of the jets seems to have the number 394-374?

What would you think about a hat.

In front, NAILHEAD embroidered around the top, with the motor embroidered below. Buick Street embroidered around the back.

PM me if you want me to work on it.

    Thanks Mike,

The main problem is the amount of colours I choose. For silk screening the most amount of colours is 6. For embroidery on a hat I expect it would be a similar restriction. Photo printing onto cloth is still relegated to the ranks of the iron-on transfer which I'm not too keen on.

    What help can you offer?

I'm still trying to find a (clothing) printer who can ink photos onto a black T-Shirt. I don't think a quality process has been developed yet. If anyone can get me pointed towards a printer or if anyone can tell me that there is a process that has been developed I will go into business as the official Buick Hobbyists Custom T-Shirt supplier but currently I'm still looking.

Bill: Love the shirt...dynamite! I sure wish you'd do them white print on a black shirt AND black print on a white tee, summer swap meets are hot here in the midwest USA. If they had a pocket I would be overjoyed. Give it hell! Buford

Mmmm, so you guys'd be happy with a white shirt? I figured with all those colours a black shirt would be the only way to sell these shirts. White (I figured) would get dirty too easily.

I'll put a bit more time into it if white is ok.
