425 Dual Quad Restoring 65 'Lark - help

    Dear All,

Pelase could you give me some measurement reference points on a Nailhead in a '65 Skylark engine bay.

I would like measurements from the centre of the front or rear pair of exhaust ports; say centre of rear exhaust port to firewall and centre of front exhaust port to somewhere logical on the front - for example the rear edge of the horizontal lip on the radiator support panel.

Many thanks all for your help! :TU:

    best regards
    Nick

Wow Nick! Are you fabricating your own mounts for that 65? If you get a set of 65-66 nailhead (401-425) skylark GS engine plates, it should bolt right up. Regards, Frank

Nick, are you buying a plate/mount setup, or making your own?
I bought the #2142 chev engine mounts yesterday ($7.99 each)....they could be adapted to work in a 65-66 GS....they have 3 mounting bolts instead of 4, and the rubber pad is smaller, so they may not be as strong.... I'll get the info posted on the other thread in a day on two...

    Hi Walt & All,

Thanks for the info! I hope you didn't buy the Chevy engine mounts on my account ! I'm sorry if you did - I'll have to see you straight. $7.99 - that's far cheeaper than I imagined itwoudl be!!
I followed up Bill offer of a set of GS mounts etc as suggested and this looks like beign successful.

The reason I was interested in the measurements is I wanted to get a feel of how the engine sits in the engine bay and try and figure out this exhuast thing.

    Thanks & best regards
    Nick

    Hi Frank,

Things are fine here - many thanks. Managed to find a set of GS engine mounts so it's starting to come together.

Still looking for a GS oil pan.

    Try This!

    Nick,

This will work for you. Not a bad price either! Then you will need an oil pick up tube as the one for the 58 will not work for you. Carmen Faso (716) 693 4090 has a high volume replacement pick-up for a 65-66 GS that will fit.

    Cheryl :)
