I've been asked to post a pic of my project and well here it is it's not a buick but still a GM. I have a 401 with a Switch Pitch trans and a 3x2 intake.
as light as a truck is in the rear end , it could make what hair you have turn white.....  most likely it will have a tendency to swap ends when you nail it.....
Best be careful, A friend has a 364 Nailhead in his 51 Ford truck and it is a handful. We call it "Oh Sh*T" because that is what is said when he romps on it. A little rain or heavy dew and you will be swapping ends.
I am considering doing the same thing with my 50 chevy pu. Please let me know what kind of clearance problems you have with the steering sector, exhaust, etc and what you do to overcome them.
Awesome truck. Can't wait to see it all put together. I've been hoping you'd post a picture of it. :TU: Stomp the gas and the back end passes up the front end due to loss of traction.
i got a 53 international that looks very pretty close to that. are you going to channel the body over the chassis or lower the whole thing. i put mine on a s10 chassis and a 8.8 rear end. i channeled it and made a set cal-trac bars. if you have any questions let me know. mine is chevy powered with a 406 but i do run a turbo nailhead in my 66lark.good luck with the build paul 66larkgs
I am seriously considering putting a nailhead in my 85 ford 150..... with a switch pitch th400 for the gear multiplication.... the stock fi 302 will not get over 13 mpg...no matter what you do to it.... and my 425 nailhead in my riv gets 18 mpg....and has waaaaay more torque and power.... go figure..... it is just a matter of sorting out the details of the ps/ac/alt brackets ect......
what are running for a suspension? the reason why i mention channeling is to maintain the stock ride with the look of a slammed truck. http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/66larkgs/53 international hot rod/ paul 66larkgs turbo nailhead
looks great. what bag did you go with? firestone? ride tech? i have been looking into bagging the rear of my buick and really not sure what to go with. paul 66larkgs turbo nailhead
I went with Slam Specialties RE6 in the front and I went with Firestone 9000 Sleeve bags in the rear? Sleeve bags are suppose to give you a more stable ride in the rear.
donno about sleeve bags, but the firestone overload bags that I have in my truck will hold up to anything.....and hold up anything I once put 3200 lb of crushed rock in the back of the truck and hauled it up a steep hill....
Well ,, that is just half of the story, Tank,,,, I turned around and headed back down , still loaded,,, the front wheels went to sliding, could not steer, let off the brakes some, started getting too fast,,, brakes again, could not steer,,,, went into the ditch , came out , couldnt stop, couldnt steer,,,, wild ride to the bottom.... but did manage to keep it from going off the 20 ft. bluff on the west side.....wont never be that stupid again....no....
