Hey Group, I just received an E-Mail from Thorley Headers. Here is the reply I got: Subj: Re: Buick Nailheads Date: 12/6/2002 10:30:59 AM Pacific Standard Time From: rmiller@jardineproducts.com To: RNatUNITEK@aol.com Sent from the Internet (Details) OK can you tell me what year and model this motor will go into, if we got enough e-mails on this we would consider making headers for the nailhead, but have no plans to do so. Sorry. Randy THE TECH GUY If Enough people E-Mail them about it they may produce them. Maybe they will do a limited number if we can order enough of them. I have used Doug Thorley headers for many of my cars and they are a great product. Well built and good flange thickness, etc. If any of you are interrested, get the E-Mail address and write in. Now is the time to get some of these vendors into nailhead goodies.:beer
Ralph, Did you know that T/A Performance has them listed on their web site? I would buy from T/A and support them before I asked someonw who does not know what an Nailhead engine is to build them. Just my humble opinion. No offence intended. Bill Bailey
o No: It is just a new source for parts that I am after. i haven't bought anything from TA as of yet and have no loyalty to any brand I haven't used before. I Have used Thorley headers in the past and have had great results. I want all of my friends in the BUICK/Nailhead world to benefit from what has worked well for me and is successful. I do however understand your comment and when the chance arrises I will for sure buy from TA performance. Thanks for the comments
Ralph, You are welcome, I didn't know if you knew about T/A Performance, just in case you wanted the headers soon. Take care Ralph, good luck to you and have a happy holiday season. Bill Bailey
The main difference is the header itself, it is more expensive because of the limited production runs. We use Genuine Jet Hot. We do inside and outside, some of the less expensive headers are just doing the outside. Support companies like TA Performance who strive to support the Buick Community. Your purchase today of a set of headers will lead to such things as NH timing covers, and single 4 barrel aluminum intakes!!! (I can't promise anything, but we are interested) We put these two items on the board earlier this year and just couldn't get the #'s to jive, so one of the other projects we did was the GS NH Headers and the Shorty NH Headers. TA's Business Plan is to continue to re-invest in new products. Dave
Dave, The thought of someone producing an aluminum Quadrajet intake for the Nailhead is wonderful. i had my hands on a 66 Qjet manifold the other day but I didn't have enough money to talk him out of it. Keep us informed as to new developments on the Timing cover too. I was given one the other day and I don't think I will ever be that lucky again. Thanks for the info.:TU:
If TA develops a free flowing aluminum head for the nailhead, we will literally beat down your doors to get them.
I found TA Performance's pricing for coatings to be fair. In my particular instance, I have HP Coatings local to me. However, they want $20 more for coating service than JetHot wants from TA Perf in Phoenix. So it was cheaper for me to have TA Perf handle the coating job. And it is true that Buicks are a niche market, with low production runs and slow sales thereafter.
I have a '66 Qjet intake for a Nailhead I could be talked out of. If you are interested E-mail me at Stonesautomotive@juno.com or call me at 252-446-8259 (I don't have access to E-mail on the weekends).
My offer about the Qjet manifold was in response to "NailheadinCA" who said he lost the chance to buy one the other day. I will sell it for $100 if someone wants it. It is still bolted on the '66 425 sitting in the corner of my garage. I plan to rebuild the engine and put it in place of the 401 in my '65 GS and I will just transfer the 2x4's onto it when I put it in my car. So I won't be using the Qjet manifold.
