First off, this is NOT mine. I have been trying to buy this for years and when he decides to sell,i cant swing it. This belongs to a "Buick Guy" i have known for 35 years. He was into Rivs and Wildcats. He has sold off the cars other than a nice 64 Wildcat rag-top,which is probably going to Sweden. Back to the set-up, it was running fine when removed, its complete. He wants $2200 plus shpg. It needs some cleaning ,there is some chrome beginning to pit on the lid, it has the orig acorn nut. He brought it to my shop and i took the pics for him and told him i would post it. He has no puter and probably doesnt know what one looks like. For the past 3or 4 years this set up has been in his kitchen. Hes letting me handle this for him.{hes got some trinkets and such,430s,401s etc im trying to get } Wacko
Mark,i'll try to get them tomorrow. He took them back to his kitchen. I probably should have got them when he had them at my shop. They were on his 64 riv for years, but he just sold the car and put it back original. I dont think these were on his riv originally. I painted his riv in 1975 and he had them on it then. Wacko
Mark......the air cleaner has been 409'ed or else is a Chevy 409 base with the way the snorkels are oriented........ Peace WildBill
Mark, the front carb # is 3645SB with CR5 below it. the rear is 3925SA with AA5 below it. Thanks, Gary
Boy, that brings back memories. In '76, when I got out of the Navy, I went to work at an auto repair shop. One of the guys tuned up a '65 vintage Riviera with dual quads, but was afraid to test drive it after he was done. He had to twist my arm to take it up on the freeway. uzzled: Not.
Those carbs are correct for 1965. Bill ...... I think the air cleaner is fine as is. Snorkels seem correct.
After looking at the pictures and talking with my mechanic and chrome shop, I am probably going to pass. The expense of refurbishing these back to look new again is going to put the cost up more than I am willing to part with, for just the wow factor on the car
Dan......wanna bet :Brow: Give us a shot with the air cleaner lid off......not trying to dog his set-up.....just seen many air cleaner bases with that done to them... $50.00.....you in ? Peace WildBill p.s.....plus in the picture it's setting on the carb's and intake.....backwards
Valve covers are 64's......notice small kickdown bracket notch on the inside of the DS cover.....it should be long and all the way back of the cover. Peace WildBill
this is the best i can do,bottom only. I do not have this and would need to have him drive 30 min to get more pics. I have a set up on my 65 425 gs skylark ,and these are identical. I put them on my car in 1982 after buying them at Carlisle. Guess what i paid for the complete set up just like this one ? $275.00
I dont know much about the 409 air cleaners (except the snorkels are at different angles than the Buick) but that sure looks like a Buick air cleaner to me. I think the original photo does not show the air cleaner properly indexed to the carbs. The followup photo of the bottom of the air cleaner looks exactly like mine. Great info on the valve covers...that `64 cover must be hard to find :eek2: , Tom Mooney
Got a couple more pics today. I had the owner come back so i can be sure. Is it nailhead or niner ??? Wacko
That's a Buick cleaner pictured......really kinda weird that it sits just like a 409 cleaner on the original photo and the one in the e-bay ad............. Did it sell on e-bay last night ? Peace WildBill
Bill,it was my fault the owner placed it on the carbs when i took the pics and i didnt notice it was off set. Reserve has been met,but there is still another hour. If it hadnt sold the owner had a buyer on it Wed, Wacko
