Hey Guys Just curious, Who is the BEAST Vendor to get Nailhead Engine Dress-Up parts From Finned Aluminum: Valve Covers Vallaey Pan Plug Covers I'm also thinking about Cast Finned Aluminum Valve covers with BUICK embossed on them. Looking Forward to your remarks. Regards, :beer Tom Gallagher
Tom, I use Rick at Galaxy rod n custom and/or O'Brien truckers. They are both out of MA. and are excellent to deal with. Rick carries or can order most of the stuff from O'Brien. They produce valley covers, and sparkplug covers, Rick also stocks Offenhauser products including vavle covers. If you are looking for the factory style BUICK script valve covers, stay away from the recent knock offs, they are terrible. The casting is very poor and the side where the script is, has a raised 'box' surrounding the script. I also think MOON Equip. is still offering valve covers and valley covers, as well as NWspeed's Eelco line up.
Hey Joe Thanks for the heads up! I know how to get a hold of Dennis at O'Briens Where am I able to contact Rick at Galaxy? I'm not too enthused about the EElco Product line. The name Ellco does not inspire confidence. Offenhauser does. A No Name Product would suit me just fine. Tell me more about the Buick Script Valve Covers which I do Like. How can you tell what is an authentic Part. Any additional info you can submit will be greatly appreciated. You certainly know what your talking about so I would be interested in what other information you have. Regards, :beer Tom Gallagher
One way you can tell they are original OEM Buick valve covers is the date code dial will be casted inside each cover.
TA Performance stocks the repro valve covers, and there are not any problems like mentioned. We also have polished stainless (high grade) hardware as well.
Rick can be reached at his home-office 508-839-1348. I have never heard of offy parts.com. I am surprised that offy did not do that themselves. The prices seem a little high, I think Rick has better prices. I have a catalog that is a couple of years old but don't think his prices would have gone up that much. Plus he is a local guy trying to make a buck doing this for the love of the sport. He currently drives a 59 Impala with correct 348 tri-power. :TU: The valve covers pictured from TA perf. look good. I have not seen them personally but I am sure someone can speak well of them on this board. The cheap repops look bad even in pictures (taken on a dark, rainy night, with thick fog, while passing by on horse back!!! ou: ). What are you running for an intake now? Rick has some real nice air cleaners for 4bbls. Some finned, some chrome bonnet style etc... Any other help I can give, just ask. :Smarty:
Nailhead Dress-Up Parts Hey Joe (Dual Quad '55) Thanks for forwarding the Valued Information! :TU: Regards, :beer Tom Gallagher
Chuck, are you looking for breathers for the oil fill pipe in front of the valley cover on the early motors? I have some original Badger brand breathers for those. They are NOS but the chrome was a cheap 'flash' plating. The tops shine pretty well but the sides don't polish up much at all. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to post pictures here. If interested I am looking for $8ea + shipping with the original box/package. If you are looking for chrome breathers for your valve covers, Mr Gasket makes some as well as other aftermarket companies. Check with your local speed shop, larger auto part stores with an aftermarket/performance isle, or online through Jegs.com or Summit/summit racing.
Chuck: If you are looking for the chrome oil breather with the two dimples and "A/C-Oil" logo, Ames Performance (Pontiac) sells them. I don't know if those are the ones Joe is talking about. I put it on my finned valve covers. It did require some mild trimming as the rockers are so close to the hole. Part # is PN535 on page 128 of their "Full Size Pontiac" catalog for $33. Ames Performance Their catalog is a PDF and not real user friendly. I can probably get a picture if you think that is the right one. Rick
Thanks for the info, I am looking for the breather that goes twist into the valve cover, pefer one with AC stamp. (chrome paint does not look very good). Thanks for the Ames lead.
