I'm searching for a 350 for my 68 GS350. I'm not having a world of success locally, and I'm hesitant to buy one sight unseen. I'm entertaining the idea of a big block or an earlier vintage engine. Again-I'm new to Buicks so forgive me if I humiliate myself, here. I realize a 400 or 455 isn't a difficult swap. How about the 401 or 425? Anything different about motor mounts here? Are these compatible with a TH400? o No:
Though the Nailhead is a nice engine, it will be a nightmare to swap into your car, compared to a 350 or 455. You have a 20:1 chance of finding a 350 vice a NH. In California they should be plentiful. At every Ecology there are probably at least 5 builders. Drive around the neighborhoods there are bound to be some deals in peoples yards or driveways for 350's that run or can run with little effort. Dave
