I have a pair of 2.5" i.d. stainless exhaust tips that I purchased at the GS Nat's years ago. I think the Skylark Drive GSCA chapter was selling them. I installed them on my car, but never attached them to the tailpipes. The angle aluminum brackets could be modified to clear tailpipes. $250 plus freight.
John, Yes they are repos. The original tips were 2" i.d. and are chromed steel. These tips are welded from flat stainless and polished. They should fit in a USPS flat rate box. Thanks
OK I knew they were too big to be original but I got excited when I saw N 25 in the title. I am looking for NOS originals I am out ............NEXT
Hi John, Are these the tips made by Wheelz? Also, you had test fit these with your N25 bumper? Lastly, would these tips work with the N25 tailpipe hangers besides the brackets on them now?
These tips fit ok but you need to get 2 1/2" hangers form Steve Caruso Lots of guys have these on their cars. Good price too. I found a used set of originals and will see about getting them re chromed. Still interested in NOS set if they come up
It can be done without hangers. My tail pipes are secured behind the rear wheels to the frame. The tips are welded on in place without hangers Take a look at the first video on my blog http://72buickgs.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html Even in gear, and revved, they're very secure.
Chris, Yes I had these tips in my bumper for several years. I do not know who made them. John K. is correct in stating that the factory hangers are too small. That is why I made the brackets in the photos. Thanks.
Just remember if you weld the tailpipes you can have breakage and then rattling. Just keep an eye on that. I have done a lot of welding on delivery trucks with broken hangers. Most have some kind of rubber to counter the vibration I would use the hangers Steve sells if I were going to mount these. I have original tips and 1 repo hanger and 1 original and Steves hanger is an excellent repo
I'm going to skip on the tips. Just spent a bunch on an N25 bumper which I won't be installing for a while so I'm not in a rush to get the rest of the parts. Free bump TTT.
Last fall I would have snapped these up! Why is it that things I want never go for sale when I need them LOL :bglasses:
