I was poking around under the instrument panel of my 1970 Wildcat today (looking for the directional flasher relay) when I saw a knob I had not previously noticed before.

It was mounted vertically, under the instrument panel, to the right of the steering column. Had I been sitting in the seat, I would have been able to adjust it with my right hand.

It was knurled bare metal, but it looks like it might have had a plastic knob attached to it.

When I twisted the knob, it was very stiff but didn't appear to do anything.

Any idea what this might be?

its not factory, so who knows what its use was for. You'll have to take a look and follow the wires

Sounds like maybe a trip odometer or speed warning knob. I've seen them like that on some GM stuff, but not sure if you have either of those options.

Speed warning knob is located in the speedometer. Will have to check if the it changes the trip odometer.

    Thanks

You usually have to push the knob upwards & turn if ib fact it is for the speedo.

Any wires to it ?? I'm thinking maybe one of those add on wiper delays. There were kits to make your wipers act like the newer cars and delay . ???

Sounds like the trip meter reset on my Riviera. I know mine is factory, but it's a '63, so don't know if they were still using that in '70. It's a bear to turn.

An angle lost its wings cause someone went playing with a knob. Do not post pictures of your knob, else violations of this forum befall you.
