guess nobody likes turbo regals on this board? o No:
Well, I do :TU: I'm thinking about buying a model year 1981 V6 Regal and drop in a GN specs turbo engine. Or do this to a model year 1982/1983 Regal Estate Wagon (but I hate the front on these wagons ) I remember a photo of a Grand National-ized Regal Estate Wagon on this board, but can't find that photo anywhere o No: Question: Will all the 231 CI turbo stuff work on the bigger 252 CI V6 engine, or do you need the 252 CI engine's ECM with different PROM chip ?
that is a pretty awsome sleeper. It's too bad you can't ditch the GN rear wheels and find some nice wide stock steelies, then the look would be complete. You should juice it also, sleepers are supposed to be warp speed quick, not just GN fast.
The gn rims are crappy, so they arent taking away from the car at all. though id love to get some steelies, but dont know where to find any 15 inch hubs? Dad would never let me juice it, besides! one form of forced induction is enough for me! i think even with the 7.5 inch insanely high geared rear itll be more than enough for a 16 year old kid :3gears: Should run low low 13's.. ill be up there in the fastest kid at school category! Good thing theres a track 5 miles away... id be in serious trouble with street racing..
the 4.1 liter is a great engine to turbo, you just need to check the block.. change the pistons.. all the 3.8 liter stuff will work otherwise, thats what Marty got! 500rwhp 500rwtq on an easy built motor, not over boosting at all.. set right at 21psi! easy 10sec time slip right there!
the 4.1 liter is a great engine to turbo, you just need to check the block.. change the pistons.. all the 3.8 liter stuff will work otherwise,
What compression do you recommend ? I thought the 80's Turbo cars all run originally on a 8.0:1 or 8.5:1 compression ratio ?
Theyre supposed to be 8:1, youd also need a baffled oil pan, and a 14 bolt front cover which should come with the 4.1, other than that, the tune should just be a bit richer to make up for the extra cubes the 4.1 has over the 3.8 I hope something comes of this erik! You'd probably have one of the quickest buicks on that side of the pond!! :3gears:
I know about one GN in Germany and two in England, I've seen two T type 231 Turbo cars here in the Netherlands, but the owners didn't know much about the true potential of their cars, and told me they were suffering from many "mystery problems" (Due to not having the knowledge about Turbo Buicks here in the Netherlands) Anyway: I'm really getting into this Turbo thing, already bought a good candidate for the engine: a rust free 1981 Turbo Regal from Germany :TU: Read my new post on this board, I really need a lot of info and help to get this car on the road...... :3gears: Click here to go to this thread
