It kills me when the first response to an ad is "inline". You ain't "inline", you're up! Are you buying or not?
Yeah no harm, no foul. I guess first up is first inline. as long as we all communicate and try to use the same verbiage.
Don't blame the EPA, it's just business. The scrap metal business that is. Lots of good stuff went in the crusher.
That's why Speedway Buick (Auto) in Phoenix finally folded, all the old cars were picked over pretty good and basically scrap metal was all that's left. Larry.
When I see "in line", it is apparent that they are interested, so it doesn't bother me what they say. As long as they show interest. We (the board) made this rule, and they are abiding.
Sometimes I am heading out the door for an appointment or something & I see the item just before I leave, so I say I am interested. I don't have the time at that moment to look at it good or check my parts stash etc.... When I have time later (within 48 hours) I try to respond one way or the other. Rick
Thanks Smartin, you are right on. I can't think of another way to do it. Like finitebidder said, sometimes you need time. I'm good with that. Vet
Yeah, "inline" as a first response generally means -- hmm, not sure if that fits my car, but lemme check. -- hmm, we are all parts hoarders around here and I have no idea what I have bought over the years, but lemme check. -- hmm, not sure what my bank and/or the wife will think about this, lemme check. -- hmm, I'm sending you a PM to discuss and ask for more info. Seems like a perfectly reasonable response to me.
...this thread has lasted a lot longer than I expected (with apologies if someone already said that). Obviously, I haven't been keeping up...
Speedway is still there, unless he folded in the last 2 yr. Phil’s parts are made of unobtainium for sure.
And 70’s too. I lived in Flint part-time from 82-87. I still have the convertible in my signature (42+ years) and drove it back and forth from the other Rochester (NY) many times during my time at GMI. And the front bumper, 455 block and shifter are among the parts that came from various Flint yards that still reside in/on the car today.
