Not that it's a filthy mess, but using Mr Clean Magic Eraser I can't get these seats clean, clean. Then again at 37 years old I guess they may have reached their limits! o No: Any suggestions??? Thanks! Jeff T
What exactly is the problem ? Has it a yellow look or what ? Very possible the problem is from all the years of UV exposure and if that is it , then not much cure . The tan leather in my Cadillac is tough to keep clean , fade from clothing gets it , even clothes that should not fade . Good Luck
Biggest problem is the seats just don't get clean. I don't wear jeans or dark colors as I've noticed the seats tend to pick up the dye from the fabric. Is there anything better/stronger than the Eraser?
Simple green. Straight, don't dilute it. I'd spray a little section on one of the sides, let it sit there for a few minutes and wipe it off. This stuff is really amazing. I don't think there's anything better.
I've been told to used Westley's whitewall tire cleaner but I'e not tried it for fear it would damage the vinyl--anyone else tried this? John
Another product you might want to try is liquid TSP concentrate - it worked wonders on my whitewalls, and washer resevoir jug. It can be used full strength, and is very easy to wipe clean with just a moist sponge and water. It's available at walyworld (Walmart). :TU:
Post some pics....would be a big help. If the seats are original....you can not ask for more...been 36+ years
Ive heard about the Westleys trick, although my detailer friend said to dilute it in a bucket of water first. Simple Green is pretty good. Use one of those white bristle scrub brushs to get in the grain. Should come clean with that.
Listen to Jason! Simple green and a scrub brush ate 35 years of smoke from my LeSabre's interior. I swear by that stuff now.
I will snap some pics in the AM as long as it's not raining... Thanks for all the suggestions!! Jeff T
Jeff, The orange stain looks like it may come out with some oxi-clean......just try a small amount and see what happens.
Hi Jeff, Looks like the pearlesence is gone, too. It may be time for new seat covers. P.S. I still have the coolant reservoir for your car!
Bruce, You're the best!!! We have to hook up somewhere!! Ever do the Friday Night in RM? Sat in MtP??? Jeff
Jeff, try Scrubbing Bubbles brand foaming bathroom cleaner. Has worked real good for me in the past cleaning white interiors.
Simple green usually works great, but whatever cleaner you use, make sure it is COMPLETELY rinsed off and use a good quality protectant afterwards. Otherwise, they will get dirty very quickly again.
'71 GS convert. Lime Mist Green, with Pearl White interior. Th interior is in great shape, but it's tired and worn looking. The Pearl White has long lost it's Opalescence finish. I need to buy a set of new, Repro Pearl White seat covers to redo a set of bucket seats for this car that are presently black. Will I be able to successfully redye all the other interior pieces back to a nice Pearl White (door panels, bucket seat surrounds, etc.), or will the dyed pieces not match the spiffy new seat bucket seat covers? Thanks
